Hi me and the other half are off to Florida this September for the first time.

We want to book a package including flights, accommodation and carhire. We would like the highest class flights we can afford (have flown to America in economy before and decided to pay the extra!) and also the premium insurance package for the car.

Our budget is around £1000 each. Any recommendations where we should look? websites would be appreciated.

Also, a lot of people have warned us that September is hurricain season, is the weather usually bad in September? Would people recommend travelling then?

    Hi,
Just a quickie got to do the school run!
I would never go back to Florida on September again, we where there when hurricane Floyd hit and it was terrifying.
Disney closed its doors, it was like a ghost town, only lasted a day or so but enough to put me off!

If you don't wanna be squashed then Virgin flights(There are cheaper carriers) would be my choice to Orlando they do the complete package very easy to book online or with a travel agent extra excusions are available as well as the normal 5 parks.
I would reconmend the Sheraton( now called,International Plaza and Spa) at the bottom of the International drive it is clean nice and comfortable and the service and staff were excellant,it isalso within walking distance to seaworld for those important visits to the Budwieser "Tent" !
We have been in September 2003 we didn't even get a wiff of a Hurricane (unlike 2005) the weather was pleasantly hot but cloudy in the afternoon by 3pm which made it chilly in the pool.We just adapted our routine to the weather for the day and went in the pool in the mornings instead.
You will need a pack a mac as when it rains it really rains. It only rained on one afternoon but the rain was bouncing back up 18inches!
    Hope that helps

    Trying to book for 4 of us to Intl Drive in May. (2 x 38 & 18 & 15)

It looks a lot cheaper to book 2 rooms than to try to find a 2 bedroomed room. A decent(ish) hotel works out about 700 for a fortnight (for 2 rooms) but all searches for just 1 room say suite suite.
Does anyone know what this means, is it just one large room with 2 beds or is it a 2 bedroomed room, so we have our privacy !!

Any help, suggestions are most welcome, please.

    Hi,

I am trying to book up for Easter:icotbaske 2008. I went to Virgin website and no flights are coming up with the dates I want. I wish to fly out on the 4th April but the nearest it will give me is the 9th April. I can find holidays going with Thomas Cook or Thompson one is coming up at £2309 - no car staying at Best Western Plaza Int (2 adults 1Child) is that good?

I said I would take my son when he is 8 but it is looking VERY expensive. I have to go in term time as I now have a job in a school they may let me take a few days out but not sure.

Any help very much apprciated. I have been on here before Bokken thanks for your reply

My wife also school worker and we face same problem with holiday prices. The Virgin holidays basically go within a few weeks of their brochures being released through travel agents so even 12 motnhs in advance it doesnt surprise me. We had a price of nearly £3k quoted for 4 of us. Weve found that the Whit holidays this year are cheaper than Easter so if you are in a school with two week Whit holiday than consider waiting for that. (Ps for Easter this year Thompson were cheaper than Virgin by couple of hundred quid)

Just booked for August 07, and no problems with availability on the dates I requested.....only the lunchtime flight out was available though.

  • Hi all

I tried to do a search on the forum and I don't think this has been asked before but was wondering about what vehicle size I should hire.

We are six adults with six suitcases and want to travel in one vehicle. There are only going to be three days on our trip where we have all our luggage with us, but we want to travel comfortably, not have suitcases rammed under our chins!!

Has anyone got experience of hiring a seven seater such as a Dodge Caravan or a Ford Freestar? What is the luggage capacity like?

Would it be better to go for the Chevy Astrovan? This is now a discontinued model so I was wondering what the replacement is. Or how about an 8 seater SUV?

Sorry its so many questions but this is the last bit of our holiday to sort out.

    Thanks

    ;)
