I just got my area given to me today and got out my first 40 books, I am very lucky in thats its the street I live in and ones close by, I have 170 houses to cover and for the first few campaigns would you suggest covering every house? till I get some idea of customers, I dont mind the footwork of the delivering the books, however the logistics might be a bit tight with 40 books, how many would others look at ordering to deal with this quantity of houses?
Also Ive seen others mention putting the order forms through the printer to print on the contact info, is this correct? will the avon forms run through a standard printer? also would it be very cheeky to ask but does anyone have a template for the document that is used to print onto the forms? I would be very greatful for a copy
Thanks and I cant wait to see if anyone wants to order anything when I go back on sunday to pick up my books lol:T
Congrats, Mrs H, and good luck again.
Am still catching up on the thread - been a bit busy - but...... if it's obvious that someone's actually at home why not knock and introduce yourself (and ask if they'd like to look at a book)? If they're not interested then you save your book for the next house that may be interested..... Each to their own; we all have different ways of doing it. Just look on it as your own business and figure out what suits you best.
Really hope you enjoy Avon (I do - not all the the time, of course, but then..... when you find the customer that really appreciates the effort you put in it makes it all worthwhile - not to mention the 'creative ordering' so you get lots of goodies at extremely good prices!)

Then I have 3 options - yes please, no thank you and I already have a rep (for ticks).
I do have a couple of customers whom I deliver brochures to quarterly (4 times a year).
Hi Money maker, and thanks for your reply. I love your idea and may well use something very similar if you don't mind me nabbing your ideasThere is so much to think about and I have lots of ideas having looked through some of the bumf I was left today, so I apologise now for the forthcoming flood of questions and brain picking

can I say something? I am working 3 days a week, in a job where i get paid a lousy £7.50 an hour but they expect me to work like I am on a salary of £25,000.
See thats the thing... £7.50 an hour is alot to me!Due to my limited experiance and part time work in the area i can only really get minimum wage retail jobs. Which after tax and bus fare works out at roughly £2.70-£3 an hour. So avon on a whole at £4-5 an hour works out a good deal... just fed up of it.
Ignore me... seriously... i have no where else to vent! I know im lucky. just had a bad few weeks.0 -
As far as I know - NOBODY should canvass (blanket drop) your specific area actively looking for customers or orders........but they can look anywhere for new reps.
I will clarify this for you further (not being patronising I hope)
If a SL is doing a Brochure Expired - there should be NO order form in the brochure pack. They should clearly mark they are looking for representatives. They can go anywhere with "brochure expired" and you cannot stop people doing this.
If they are using the Avon purchased Brochure expired cards, that's fine.
It could be a geniune mistake, but it really doesn't sound like it.
If the ASM is the same ASM for them, then they should give them a severe talking to.
IT'S NOT FAIR when people are poaching territory/sales. However, SLs are entitled to canvass wherever they want for looking for reps - NOT customers.
To be honest, brochure expired is a pants idea UNLESS you have got vacant territory from the ASM. Whenever I have done it accidently on someone elses patch - it has ALWAYs ended in tears.
I would be annoyed if someone brochure expired on my patch....even though I have my customers well trained.
In an ideal world, I totally agree with you. Good job am so long-suffering though because since starting Avon last year and attaining PC within 10 campaigns my Given Territory has been re-allocated not once but TWICE (and we all share the same ASM!)!!! Neither rep was poaching; they'd been officially allocated my GT. How 'professional' is that? Not!!!
In a nutshell, mistakes happen. In my view, if you look after your customers then irrespective of any errors made by anyone else and/or anyone trying to poach your customers, then they'll stay with you..... Just because you've been given an area to cover, it doesn't mean everyone there is yours.... If you don't look after them then, sooner or later, maybe another Avon rep will. :cool:Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Mrs_Hornsey wrote: »I started Avon on friday Yippeeee
So....I put out 38 books on friday afternoon clearly saying on an attached note that I would be collecting them sunday evening....well after calling at all the houses, I got 13 back including 6 orders (yipee) i then popped a note through early today saying Sorry I missed you & would be picking them up this evening I eventually got 2 more orders, 1 lady still looking at the book with her mum and 13 more books back...so im still 10 books down!
I Put the ones I got yesterday out last night and the ones I got back this eveing out tonight....these are for collection wednesday evening.....however at this rate of loss I will have no books left. I have 170 houses to do and will have done 70 by wednesday night....and assuming I can get all my books back (yeah right!) they will be going back out wednesday night and by friday night collection I will have got 100 done...if I keep loosing books tho its going to be a total nightmare! I know I can keep people on the old books etc but wanted to keep it as straight as possible for the first 2 campaigns
Do you guys have the same sort of loss on new districts or when your re canvassing?
I am worried about how many books to order for the campaign after next?
MH, am guessing you're 'stuffing' rather than 'asking'. Pretty sure you're in the majority but I really try and encourage anyone, who signs up with me to ask. You only have a few books to start off with so they're precious; don't leave them anywhere unless you're sure they're wanted....

Think i had 4 customers order the flipflops, hope they arrive and i dont have to disappoint them! why do they never order enough stock when they have offers on.
My order arrived last Thursday: 6/7's were in stock then but not 4/5's - said they were 'sure' of further stocks at some point.....
If anyone's desperate I have a few spare pairs of 6/7'sMake the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

From my messages:
Advance Techniques Lotus Shield Samples
Please note that Advance Technique Lotus Shield samples are 20p each (not 7p each as stated on the online Lotus Shield Training)
Oops - heads will roll :rotfl:
Thanks, never noticed the reference to 7p but I ordered some samples that I paid for but also got some on presentation cards, which I assume were free? Is that right? If so, what I paid for is looking quite 'sad' compared to the freebies....... Something not quite right there methinks! Or have I got it the wrong way round?Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Mrs_Hornsey wrote: »Hi Lucyclare,
Thanks for your help its much appreciated, I think I will go with more books for the first few campaigns as it will make covering my area a lot easier, I can then cut back to using just the ones i need.
I signed up with my ASM who is WONDERFUL a very helpful lady who is doing my training face to face and is very supportive. I am seeing her on Thursday so will get a few more books from her to get me through.
Thanksd for the offer of a template for the order form but I made one up during a quiet time at work and s long as I only put a few forms in my printer at once it behaves and prints them well, otherwise it eats them!!!!!
Right off to my day job
Take care and thanks again xxx:j
Hope you've been told/reminded that you can split your customers between your current and back campaign i.e. means you only need half as many books! Provided you've hit HOV then no need to order megaloads of books; just keep a close check on which customers are on which books.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)
