This is a question for the girls who put campaign figures in the footer of their posts.......

Is this your retail commissions, team commissions, personal or team sales?

Just wondering as I am still quite new in Avon myself.

  • Just had a phone call from a customer about SSS products. She says her mum used to buy her a bubble bath years ago that also had oil in it. She was wondering if there was any similar products available now. I have checked the books and found the bath oil, but not sure this is what she is refering to. Any ideas?

I thought I'd give Avon a go a few campaigns ago ... not a single person wanted to buy anything ... as they pointed out .. it's all cheaper by having your own Avon account or by buying from Ebay hahahahah

Lotus Shield .. latest 'gonna make us a fortune' product .. already selling on Ebay for £4.50 + £1.50 p&p .. but that's stil, £1 cheaper than buying from an Avon rep ... DOH!

I'm just stocking up on the promo offers (where cheaper) then I'll jack it in as a waste of time ..

Strangely enough, I've had another experience to add to the 'preferred alternate routes' i.e. one family, who am told 'love Avon', prefer to get together (Mums and sisters) and order direct from the website rather than buy from a local rep. Why.... I've nooo idea; mentioned to them that I give free gifts and samples (and also my campaign is ahead of the one online) but still they stick to their guns.

As for being cheaper buying if you're a rep - yes, of course, but only if you put in a fairly decent order every campaign i.e. by the time you take account of the cost of your book(s) etc.

And, re. the Lotus shield - on the face of it, it may look cheaper on E-bay than buying via a rep but you lose the option to return it for a full money refund within 90 days - even if used.... (presumably you'd have to foot the bill of return postage even if the seller will refund your money) and initially I'm pretty sure it mentions being on offer to customers @ £5 ergo cheaper via a rep than on E-Bay. Just wondering too, to anyone who's done the Money Maker, is it OK to offer a 'special deal' on the Lotus shield i.e. 1 for £5 or 2 for £8 or would that breach some T&C's?

I think most people, myself included, just put their sales figures of what orders they collect in - nothing to do with earnings, or for SL what our team sells. For me, I put mine & OH sales combined as we do it together.

Well I offered my customers the chance to have their brochures for longer if they submitted their orders online/phone/text....not a single one took it up as they obviously prefer it the old fashioned way. Even offered them a 5% discount if they did it this way - as it would have saved me the time it takes to collect in the brochures, but even so no-one took me up on it.

Far as I know MC we can do whatever offers we like - afterall, from Avons point of view, they only see how much we order, and if doing our own offers (where we earn less) means they sell more they are going to be happy. I'm not doing the moneymaker on it, but am going to offer it at £4. Probably won't get many/any takers - BUT - my customers know I do different exclusive discounts/offers throughout the year, which helps to keep them loyal to me and encourages them to show other people.

Had another request for a brochure from facebook last night :j - I've found advertising on a local for sale/swap/advertising group has lead to all these requests, so if you search, there might be a group for your town and you can post on there.

    Thanks for quick reply Elliebee!

What do you do when you get your territory. Do you knock on the doors to ask if they would be interested before giving them a booklet or just put a booklet through each door? Do you end up with alot of books wasted or do you get most your books back? I saw on the tips page about staggering so 1/2 a territory is on one campaign and the other 1/2 on the next campaign so books can be recycled, are the books returned in good enough condition to recycle? Hope it's not silly questions.

You might end up with a few brochures ruined, particularly when the weather is bad, but not too many if you use re-sealable bags. Just freezer bags will do, they don't cost much, but help to keep everything together and to protect your brochures. I don't knock and ask people - I just post through the brochures and hope for the best. If not I always think - if someone had knocked at my house, and asked OH if the lady of the house would like a brochure, he would have said no. As he would think - she doesn't wear make-up so therefore she doesn't want avon. Or you'll get people who instinctively say no, especially if they haven't seen a brochure in a while so don't know the variety of products stocked. However, some people like MC, find knocking and introducing themselves works for them. We all have our own systems and ways of doings things, just do what you feel most comfortable with.

I'm no-where near you unfortunately, but if you look in your local newspaper there is usually an advert in there, or look on google maps and there might be a listing on there of a local SL.

I always give my new reps doing territory, brochures for the current campaign, and some for the previous campaign, so that they can split their territory from day one. Otherwise, it can be difficult to split your territory at a later date. Not everyone does this, but it is worth keeping some customers on each brochure, as it minimises your costs.

The bath oil is the one that she is refering too. Good luck with it. Remember the Bluey/greeny one is the Soft and Fresh, also known as original. This is the one with citroenella in it and is well known for keeping the bugs away. The pink one, doesnt.

Actually, the Lotus hair will be £5 in C12 and C13. I have both books and Ive checked. So perhaps bear that in mind. The RRP which is advertised in HT also shows the brochure offer price underneath it. So its acutally MORE expensive and no returns.

But each to their own. Avon is only cheaper with your own account if you spend over £78 to make MOV and then, they will send you a book at 99p.

    Hello,

Just wondering if there are any sales leaders from wiltshire here? I would really like to give Avon a go (although quite nervous!) and thought I'd try here rather than through the website.

How long has it taken people to get established customer base with Avon? HAve you had many months where you haven't hit the £78 mark?

Hia, Im in Wales, signed up 1/2/10. As you can see from my signature, Ive never missed out on commission. The figures below are my sales figures, not commission.

I do avon parties in customers homes, and i put a book in EVERY HOUSE on my territory every camp (unless they have asked me not to)

Dont skip houses because they havent ordered from the last 3 books, (unless you NEVER EVER got your books back at all) because some people just take a while to get round to opening the book and having a look. Espeicially if you stick with it. You will wear them down.

For the record. On my 6th campaign, i picked up 3 new customers, who have always had a book and orderd nothing. This time they did. So it does go to show that every house, every camp does pay off. Will it really take you that much longer to do it?
