Aureol- I work 30 hours. On am average shift I earn 40pounds pre tax. No child tax help - then my child care for shift is 25pounds. I probably lose 6ish in tax then NI. So 9pounds a day. I've 2 kids. I try f-ing hard and get nowhere! My avon is about 100 houses. So many told me to sod off! I've been doing it 4 months. I'd love to be a sales leader and earn more, but I can't afford a car, nor extra childcare so I cycle everywhere with a small loud passenger on the back.
I wish I had friends, or family. Its complicated, but i've had PND that never really went away. I can't door knock, I can't just leave books places, I haven't got the confidence to ask. :( I take my toddler out with me for avon as being alone freaks me out! Please don't just think i'm a drama queen, but I text and use internet as talking face to face is hard.

I have a genius for a son, aged not 8 yet his teachers say he's age 14 in ability. He gets bored and angry and disruptive. My partner disapproves of my avoning as it is. Them I got a vat bill. Arg
I've worked 9 days in 10 and my 'day off' was avoning day. I'm knackered!

Sounds like you have a HUGE amount of stress going on in your life JJ. No ideas where the VAT liability comes into the equation but are you sure it's worth working for very little more than your childcare costs? Sounds to me like you'd be better off offering to childmind other people's children? Just a thought.....

Sorry, no ideas what PND is but wonder if it may help re. the 'shyness' aspect of selling if you could manage, somehow, to convince yourself of what bargains Avon offer. Am deffo no salesperson either but when I (or rather usually one of my customers) finds a particularly good bargain then I find it easier to share the news of that bargain with other (potential) customers. Never ceases to amaze me that I can look at the next book and not see any particular bargain but after my first collection of books some of my customers search out some really good deals :T If you CAN manage to turn it on its head and convince yourself that you are really helping people save money by pointing out the bargains then you may find it snowballs.....

    PND is post natal depression.

And it is not easy being a childminder. You can't just decide to be one and start being one. You have to register and be registered with all sorts of governing bodies, and they are encouraging childminders to do NVQs or Diplomas in Childcare. You can be an unregistered childminder but then you cannot take on kids whose parents are receiving child tax credits as they will only give money for registered childminders.

    Hi
Im a new rep as of today. I was a SL 25 years ago though so I know what to expect. I was given 30 brochures today and 30 for the next camp also. Im starting on camp 11 through choice-give me time to prep everything. I always used 30 books before on my territory so to me its my magic no. Its my SLs magic number too. Ive got to agree-persevere with the brochures. Ive always bought Avon but often go 3 camps ordering nothing then suddenly surprised my rep by ordering loads! It does depends what the favourites are for that person. I strongly believe in samples and ringsizers too-something my visiting reps have sadly lacked!
Only thing I forgot to ask today is who keeps the carbon copy of the order form. I think its top to customer and bottom to rep to pin to the order upon delivery. I forgot to ask this-is that correct?

Welcome, AAG, can't begin to wonder how much things have changed in 25 years! Strange about the 30 brochures - never heard that before - but whatever works for you (and your SL) I guess.

As for the carbonised order forms, most of my customers tend to give me both copies back when they order so I then keep the top copy for my records (in case of returns at a later date) and I pin the carbonised back copy to the orders when I deliver them. As usual though, each to their own. I just find that sometimes the carbonised copies are not that legible so I prefer to keep the 'best' copy.

Good luck with doing Avon again and please post up your thoughts as to how it compares now to when you did it before.

But, of course, thanks to Avon's quirky system (should you so wish) you can return that one book for credit!

    Wow didnt know that !

What reason do you put down ?

Thanks; sounds a mindfield! I was a 'mature mum' (and that was quite a while ago so things were different then). Also got to admit that I have noooo ideas what these child tax credits are that keep being mentioned on the News. Not important for me but guess they must be for a lot of others.

Good luck to everyone with whatever the forthcoming Budget is going to bring.

*Wendy* - do you have the code for the body buffer? Please? Think I know what you are asking about, just want to check. Have books 11, 12 and 13.

Not sure if this is what you're after but in C10 there's a 'Tallow Wood Body Brush' (mixture of natural bristles and plastic nodules - quote: "to exfoliate and stimulate circulation") - ref 8128 @ £3.50 which says it's a £1 saving on the full price.

  • Thanks for your answer MarsdenCuckoo. Yes-I will do it the way you suggest! From what I see not a lot has changed! Some of the rewards and incentives and of course the online ordering! What a bonus that is! Just waiting for my membership no so I can take a peek online. Now I read in my pack that brochures were not eligible for credit? Personally I think that they are a lot cheaper than 25 years ago as I seem to recall them being 50p back then! Certainly all of 30p anyway. I really thought it would all be a lot more expensive so I was pleasantly surprised. Got to admit I wouldnt reorder something small and pay £7.50 though as someone did earlier. When I did it before you could order products from the last campaign at that camps prices along with your main order. Anyidea if you can do that now? Im guessing not!
I printed out some slips today introducing myself-really briefly with the dates I would be collecting the brochures/orders and the delivery dates. Put the wrong day on the first few pages so had to redo them This is what I put:
I am xxxxx, your new Avon Representative. Please look through the brochure and leave outside for collection on: xxxxxxx JUNE
Your order will be delivered on: xxxxxxx July am/pm
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
