  • Hi everyone - I signed up as an Avon Rep yesterday and am really looking forward to getting started. I've been given 4 roads to start with but as I've only got a week until the first order is due in I probably won't get round them all this time. Just a quick question - what happens to the old books when you have finished with them? Do you end up with piles of old books?

Will let you know how I get on. Have already got a £27 order from my M.I.L :T.

Lozza, I feel for you! I haven't worked full time since October 2007, just before my son was born, but know what it is like when the company you are working for, makes redundancies or let's people leave naturally and then expects you to carry on with their work.

I have a job interview today, it is not the type of job I would normally go for, and I am vastly over qualified, it is a full time job, but I did say when I applied I was looking to work part time if possible. So we shall see when I go for the interview. I really, really do not want to work full time especially as most of the wages are going on childcare.

But Lozza, you may have to apply for jobs you would not normally apply for but as you say tweak your CV so that you can apply or highlight parts of it that are applicable to the job.

I just want to say! I have set up a twitter account for promoting my Avon business, and I did a few tweets on it and haven't done too much recently, although my Facebook page, automatically sends anything I post through as a Tweet.

Well yesterday I got an email and text from someone I don't know. I didn't see the email until late last night, as was busy and she texted me at 10pm apologising for late text.

anyhow she wants to buy SSS spray but wants it for Thursday, I have found I have bought some and am having it delivered today :) I asked her how she had found me and it was through Twitter! Yay!

She said she had been looking for a local rep but had found it hard to find anyone!

So am wondering to tweak my twitter name, as it starts Avon. Maybe put my town or put my town in my name.

BUT that just shows the power of social networking sites! Must start using my twitter account more methinks!

Welcome studentmidwife and well done on your first order :)

Don't throw away the books you have been given. You can use them to canvass your territory from next week after you have submitted your order.

With Avon books, we reuse the current campaign and previous campaign books.

So you get twice as much usage out of your books. When ordering online, you can order in your current campaign, your back order book.

So from next week when you get your second set of books from your ASM, reuse these books too.

Also, you may find that some products ordered from the book next week are cheaper in this current book. So you can order them and charge the customer the price in the book next week, as this will be on their order form.

    Hope this bit makes sense.

    good luck.

I haven't personally, but one of my reps has had something similar. She's one of my most reliable reps, and I thought it was odd when she'd submitted her order but not cleared her balance, so got in touch - and she assured me she had paid which I fully believe. For some reason it took about a week for her payment to be processed, even though she paid online and in plenty of time. I think there might be gremlins in the system!

Went to collect my second lot of books in today, and got two orders totalling £40 out of 16. Then got home and my friend and her mum had posted their orders through the door, plus my neighbour came over with an order, and I managed to get an order from one of the girls at work too! Yay, a great day for orders!

On the downside, when I was collecting my books I noticed the houses had Kleeneze books outside awaiting collection, with Avon books inside them. How cheeky! Anyway I've phoned the rep who's books they were (she lives on the other side of my town too) who tried to say it was allowed, so was quite firm and told her not to put Avon books in her Kleeneze ones on my streets. Hope that was ok - I feel quite cheeky as I have only been doing Avon for 5 days!

Firstly congrats on your orders :T and congrats on ringing this other rep - you're right she is most definately NOT allowed to do this, especially as all DSA registered companies have to be very careful at not associating themselves with another company - so she's being naughty in putting her books in with kleeneze books, as well as delivering wherever!!! Hopefully she'll get the message and stop doing it, if not let me know x Will be in touch later as think I should have some extra C5 brochures I could give you x

COngrats on your interview and the very best of luck :T Thanks A - but unfortunately with working in a lab certain things are quite specalised, and the only jobs about at the moment I'm in no way qualified for or have any experience in. Will have to keep looking!

  • Lozza, it would be AMAZING if you've got some spare C5 books - am now down to 11 as loads of people weren't in last night and I've still got two streets to cover.
Also with regards to the job what sort of lab do you work in? My best friend works in HR for a large lab so I could get her to keep an eye out for stuff for you xxx
