What day do they normally deliver? Does anyone make a reasonable amount of money consistently doing Avon or is it minimal once you deduct cost of brochures etc?

    Hi & welcome Silentotter :hello:

Delivery days depend on what mailplan you are on (the person who signs you up should be able to tell you that). The delivery days are spread throughout the campaigns so that the load is spread for the couriers. Your first delivery will give you an idea of time as it will normally be around the same time each campaign - mine rarely varies by more than about fifteen minutes each way.

I do Avon to top up my meagre state pension so don't regard it as anything other than a hobby. I don't do any door knocking or campaigning - just an occasional recanvass by putting books through all doors. In spite of that I seem to average about £25 a week over the year which I'm quite happy with.

The real money seems to be in being a Sales Leader, but I think that might be best left until you're quite settled being a rep. A lot of people do seem to find it really hard going - it probably depends on your lifestyle and circumstances.

omg just checked the supply issue list on the website and:

8 in 1 Eye Palette Neutral Tones Stock available again mid Campaign 8

ridiculous! Had 2 customers order them last time (luckily Mum was one of the customers so she won't mind waiting) but think it'll have to be ebay for the other one, can't expect someone to wait that long!!!

Looks like my forthcoming order will be short the Pearl Shines too - second time this has happened to me with this product. Last time it came in the next campaign but looks like it will be a longer wait then this time. :(

Sorry to divert the thread to SLs again but just got back from my first attempt at canvassing for new reps. A little point I had no idea about, if you're in a covered precinct area then you may actually be on private land and risk being asked to move on (as happened to us! :o ) Luckily the security man was very diplomatic but, as I told my SL, I felt a bit like a leper to start off with and when we got moved on that made me feel like a tramp! :(

Joking apart, my SL had only intended handing out flyers and free samples but then mentioned 'pastie bags'. ;) That's where you put a back campaign book, order form, flyer and free sample into an Avon bag with your contact card stapled to the front (leastways, that's what we did). Seems to make more sense to me as they're getting chance to actually look at the current products there and then and, as we told them, have a 'trial run' this week by showing the catalogue round to see if they can actually get some orders from their F&F. I'll ring them all on Friday to see how they've got on and if they have found it quite easy to get some orders then, hopefully, they'll agree to a meet so I can sign them up.

I was really retiscent to start with; didn't think there would be any way I'd be able to approach people in the street but once I managed to get my first interested person then there was no stopping me. (I even went up to two young men sat down eating their lunch and suggested they use it as a ploy to meet ladies! :rotfl: One saw the potential so took a pastie bag to give it a try! :T)

For the record, we got 12 potential newbies + one, who just wants to be put in touch with her local rep. Am guessing/hoping that 3 or 4 may come to fruition - time will tell.

    Wish me luck!

Well done MC! It is funny, once you stop a few people, your confidence just really builds!

Yes I knew you cannot tout for business on covered precincts, inside shopping centres, inside shops, or even STAND outside a shop doorway! You have to make sure you are on public fairway, away from a shop doorway and tout away. That is unless you have the permission of the shop proprietor to have a stand in their shop.

Thanks, aureol, had no idea about the rules re. 'touting'. We ended up quite close to the entrance to a supermarket; security guy kept coming outside to use his walky-talky so I did wonder if he was going to shoo us off too but he didn't. We caught a few 'on the move' too i.e. whilst walking back to the car. It's definitely something you need someone along with you for courage though.

So had enough of my job!!!! I work in a lab, and in the 3 years I've been there, no end of people have left (either retired or got better jobs), and they haven't been replaced, and then they made about 10 people redundant last year, again all technicians. Now - we have the same amount of work in that we've had for ages.....their are various computer programmes etc set up now to minimise work for the office staff & make things more efficient....and yet the office have taken on 2 more people!!!! And none of them can do their job right!!!

And yet we can't have any more people in the labs, we're just expected to learn in more departments, spreading us all to thin, working in areas we have no qualifications in, and come this summer when obviously a lot of people will want leave, we're going to seriously struggle!

So have decided to start looking for another job, closer to home (currently work 40 miles from home) - on the plus side, if I can get a job closer to home, even on a lot of less money - there will be less petrol, new tyres, general wear and tear on my car (so I can keep my baby car for longer, oh keeps wanting me to change it for a newer one), and of course more free time.....as I pointed out to oh, if I'm travelling less gives me more time for repping / sl so I hopefully wouldn't be earning much less. Makes me so glad I started avon as at least I feel like I have more options available. Might not be the best idea considering were saving for a wedding, but I'm dreading coming into work now, I'm really hating it and all the travelling doesn't help so would be happier working closer to home.

sorry for the long rant just wanted to get it off my chest lol!:p

Thanks for your replies to my earlier post, really appreciate it.

Another quickie, placed my order for C6 on Friday (its my 1st order) the total sales were £420 which I'm really pleased about as it was just F&F as territory not sorted!!! I logged into the rep site today and it says that the order is prepared and it has an invoice number. Do you think this means that they have allowed me enough credit to cover it rather than me paying up front for some?? Also the invoice number allows me to click on it but it comes up with a blank page, could this be a site error or is it too soon for me to view the invoice?? Delivery is Friday and I am so so excited!!! I'm such a saddo lol

Lozza - sorry about your job, hope you find something soon xxx
  • Well just went to collect books that werent out on Friday and have ended up with another 2 orders (one new customer) and one that wants me to go and collect an order tomorrow (another new customer). ALso got about another 30 flats to deliver books to tomorrow who haven't had one before so when I pick up on Thursday will hopefully have some more orders.

Total is £116 so far for C6 but hoping to get £350 by the time its ready to be submitted
