Hi everyone, after getting a reply from my ASM saying there's no more territory in my area I've been thinking of other ways I canmake a bit of extra cash.Been looking at Betterware as from what I can see there's no outlay and you don't have to pay for books. Just wondered if anyone else does it as well as Avon and if they work around each other. i seem to be building up a good customer base with Avon so don't want to take too much on and perhaps jepordise that but I do need to make a bit more extra cash (don't we all lol!). From what I've read on the betterware thread people seem to be making between £20 and £50 a week which would be great as it would pay for my eldest's pre school fees when he starts in April! Does anyone have any experience of doing both together?

I was also looking into doing Betterware alongside Avon but have had zero response from Betterware after 3 weeks of chasing. I am sure I read in maybe the previous threads that there were some that did Betterware as well. Was also looking into Usborne but can't seem to find enough information to make an informed decision ;)

I did Usborne after my first sonw as born and found ti to be a nightmare to be honest!!! I still have two boxes of books nearly 18 months later than I just can't shift!! I made a complete loss and never earned anythiing doing it! I'm sure there are people who do make money from it but my area is just saturated with Usborne people and I think the only way that you make any decent money is by getting in with the schools which is very very hard!!! It's also not as easy as they make out to take your books and a baby to toddler groups!!!

Alot of these things seem good until you start speaking to other people who have experienced it!!!

Just had a call from my ASM (shocker) to congratulate me on my first order!!! She was also discussing territory so fingers crossed more success with this new lot.

I mentioned to her about a retirement village that has been built just out of her area and she said it doesn't come up on heir mapping systems so nobody can officially have it allocated to them. She said that I should go knocking on a few doors and see if they receive or would like an avon book and take it from there. What do you think??? I can't be officially stealing someone elses territory but still I hate confrontation!!!

aureol if you know someone from Betterware that would be fab, don't want to pay the start up costs with Kleeneze.
  • Just had a thought, has anyone ever done an Avon raffle? I was thinking of offering tickets at 50p or £1 each then the winner would either recieve a selection of products from the current brochure (amount depending on how many tickets sold) or a voucher to spend in the brochure (again amount depending on how many tickets sold. I would perhaps put a sticker on the front of my books about it then ask when collecting the books?

    Hi YM,

Yes I do both. As you say, there's no outlay at all re. Betterware (other than fuel) - you do tend to need transport to do your deliveries as the orders are more bulky than Avon. They provide everything.

B is a bit of a hard slog but you can earn more than via Avon (probably because you're not tempted to buy the products as much). You get a straight 20% of all orders you deliver. At the mo there's a bit of a problem in the picking dept so it can be annoying when you get orders but then don't earn your commission because you don't get the goods to deliver (even though they're in stock).

Some weeks are better than others but essentially it's up to you how much effort you want to put in - the more books you deliver the more orders you get. (Ideally they like you to deliver 300 books a week.) Minimum order level is £200 but if your orders are less than that, chances are your upline Manager will still get it through somehow, and you'll still get 20% commission.

Campaigns are weekly, you transfer your orders manually onto one large itemised sheet and B like you to keep track of how many books you put out, collect back in and how many re-orders you get. (Quite often you pick up a new order when you deliver your goods, which is brill!)

I have picked up new Avon customers by doing Betterware, which really is why I'm doing it at the mo. Oh, B run bonus schemes - you can earn £30 after your first few orders (4? if you hit a certain amount of sales - sorry can't remember exactly but can't be much because I got it) - you get £15 for introducing a new agent - and there's a bonus of 'up to £250 after your 26th week' as a rep.

They can dovetail sometimes but not that often. Doing the two together though is quite manageable depending, of course, what else you have going on in your life.
Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon ;))

Yes I live on a new build estate and our road does not appear on their systems, so I have been dropping to it. The road would be in my ASM's area though if it was on their mapping systems - I make a note to myself to remind her every couple of months to check on the system and allocate it to me if it has appeared.

You say that the estate isn't within your ASM's area - I'm not sure if that complicates things. You won't know if the ASM for that area hasn't unofficially allocated it to a rep (as with my road) unless you door knock. But then I'm not sure how you would go about getting it allocated to you ....... ??

thanks for the info MC, looks like it maybe worth me looking into it but i want to make sure that I can manage it along with Avon and all the other normal mummy things you have to do when you have two boys under 2!!

How did you pick up avon customers? did you just happen to mention that you do Avon too and if they'd like a brochure?

I would have the car to do the deliveries because I'd probably do them in the evenings once hubby was home and boys in bed but how likely is it that I'd get territory close to my home as I'd be walking when delivering/collecting the books and don't wanna be pushing the buggy for miles along with a load of catalogues before I even get to delivering!!!

YM85, you have to be careful doing raffles for profit. there are rules about selling raffle tickets, etc. I know when I was going to work for charity shop, she had to ask council about selling raffle tickets on the streets and get permission etc.

I would check on the charity thread about this first hun.
