Johanne - I have seen you mention prepping 300 books and that you run these over 3 books (so I am guessing about 100 books from each campaign). Do you drop each set of books just once so that you are 'only' doing 300 houses each campaign? Or do you manage to re-drop them as well?

i try redrop them at least once so cover 500-600 houses a campaign but this isnt enough so once i can sort some regular childcare im goin to try do 3 or 4 drops as currently *whispers* i dont cover every house in my territory every campaign.. sometimes not even every other camp :o:o:o *stops whispering* im really disorganised at the minute as alot goin on at home and just havent put the effort in i need to.

My ASM is having an 'Opportunity Meeting' at the start of May which I have put my name down for. However I just wanted a reality check ahead of it in case the flexibility was oversold. Definitely interested so I may well 'Go for it!' especially as I have an school fayre towards the end of May and a Pamper Evening in June that I thought might be ideal for prospecting for potential reps.

They do encourage you do sign your first 5 active reps within your first 3 months as SL, they have a fast start bonus system.
first 3 who order online, ontime, over mov within your first 3 camps as SL = £30 cash payment.

Then another 2 who order online, ontime over mov within your first 3 camps as SL = £50 cash payment

After you have 5 in team, earn commission. it is up to you how fast you get there. Some fly, others need more time. but are happy to get there at their own pace. doing it slowly also means that you can spend more time bringing on your reps and still doing your territory.

Wow! I don't think most people would consider covering 500-600 houses as being disorganised.

thing is, if you have it at your house:
    a) you have to clean first (girl thing)
    B) you have to price everything up
    c) its not so much of a party as a cash on the night thing
    d) you have to supply booze and nibbles
    e) poor turnout.
    f) you have to get rid of the stragglers who want to drink your booze and wont go home
    g) you still have to clean up again

get a customer to host a party at her house, none of the above
use your items as demos, samples, raffle prizes, book a party tonight gift, additional items to sell or use as gifts for high value orders.

I offered a hostess commission on party sales, she had to collect the money and deliver the goods.

ONE Stop shopping gone nuts. £350+ orders on the night from brochures, items as above out for use, try and stuff for sale, did raffle etc. there for 3 hours. One delivery and exchange of cash. Happy days
oh and yes, got another party booking for next week.

How do you all keep a record of your sales/expenses? I don't have much time to think with a clear head with looking after the kids all day - and at this time of night I'm just shattered and ready for bed!

I use a diary for appointments and territorys i cover. i log mileage down every day.

    Keep all receipts
keep all avon invoices and statements
keep all bank account statements where you use it for receiving SL commission and or buying stuff for avon.

Get an accounts book from wh smith or similar and just keep a record. I Revenue man recommends doing it weekly or fortnightly to keep the work light.

If you are good, and do it regular, not really a big job.

eg: week 1 recieve delivery so you get an invoice from avon.
enter commissionable goods as stock at cost price.
enter non commissionable goods as demo or other (marketing for samples)
consumables for brochure bags and delivery bags etc

log all payments recieved in bulk, dont have to do individually.
log all expenses for that week, fuel etc. Can claim £3 pw for working from home to cover electricity gas etc and dont need receipts for that.
invoices for any other 'advertising' or 'marketing' if you buy a rubber stamp or business cards etc
week 2 log any sales received from putting out books, even though you dont collect the money that week
week 3 place order with avon, again log any orders received regardless of payment recieved or not. (the day you make the sale rather than day you receive payment)

balance your books for week as you go along and carry over any loss or profit made to following week.

main thing is keeping ALL paperwork including your customer order slips as proof of sales made. they will accept that you do lose some paperwork but will not accept that you have none.

they have a good idea of what an average rep and or sl make and as long as your accounts fall into this area, you are unlikely to be asked to provide documents. keep all accounts for 6-7 years (this will be reduced to 4-5 years soon).

Sounds a lot worse than it is. Get on to your tax office and see if you can be referred onto a course. it is free, took 2 1/2 hours and left with clarity and focus.

further courses are available. again all free and no one better qualified to teach or explain to you.

    hope this helped.

Noglet, I would sign up as SL, because you don't become a fully fledged SL until your 5 reps put orders in on time, on line anyway. Before then, you are a traineee SL.

I take my DS with me for sign ups and do some at my home, because even though I had childcare, for a while I had to stop as couldn't afford it. But I must admit I would prefer to do sign ups without him as he is very distracting!

If you are able to do sign ups without your DS, like you say, evenings and weekends, go for it!
