Since the sticky thread was closed to new posts, we've not had an opportunity to thank those who have recently contributed.
I would like to take this opportunity to express gratitude to all those who have taken the time to upload threatening letters received from private parking firms.
Thanks also to the many regulars who continue to help & advise intimidated newbies about the private parking cowboys and their empty threats.
Keep up the great work :T0 -
Hi! Here are my letters - I received a PCN ticket in October, did my research (on here!) and just didn't respond. I've had a total of 5 letters - 2 from VCS themselves, 1 from Roxburge Solicitors, and a further 2 from Graham White Solicitors... Responded to 0.
I haven't had any more letters since February - about 3 months now!
Feeling pretty smug

Unlike VCS. Read the thread elsewhere, it's possible that H.M. Revenue and Customs just put them out of business.0

We have just received a letter from control account management stating they have been instructed to take legal proceedings after ignoring a parking fine given by euro car parks in Sainsburys Torquay
Do will still ignore these rogues as they are stating they are going for a ccj against the driver even though they are not aware of the driver as we have ignored everything so far but need further advice0 -
As a debt collector they cannot actually take legal action in respect of this unless they have actually purchased the debt. Only the owner of the alleged debt or a duly appointed legal representative can take court action.
If they have purchased the 'debt', then the original owner of the 'debt' would have to have notified you in writing of this. I'm willing to bet this hasn't happened.
There is now further confusion regarding this thrown up by a recent ruling against VCS in a case for VAT payments, that only the LANDOWNER (or an appointed legal representative of the landowner) can take action, and not even the parking company can.
Either way, Control Account Management certainly can't.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Soooo...... how can they take any action against a driver whose identity they are unaware of?
Letters like this are all part of the scam. They send the same garbage to everyone, you have not been singled out for preferential treatment. Nothing will happen because nothing can happen.
Correction, something will happen- they will get fed up with wasting postage on people who are not being fooled by their little game, and you will lose your penpals.0 -
They always say they have firm instructions for legal action, then they say its going to their legal dept, but in reality they don't have a legal department.
Try asking for the legal team and you will always get ' they are not available, in a meeting etc etcHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
The more unpleasant threats usually include mentioning that a CCJ might be issued, that bailiffs might be appointed, and that bad things might happen to your credit rating. For things to actually get to this stage, they would have to take you to court, win the case and then you’d have to refuse to pay. After 28 days a CCJ would be issued and the bailiffs would be appointed, both by the court not the PPC.
But, they can't actually do anything, for the same reason that a blackmailer couldn't sue their victim if they didn’t pay.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

So they have reverted to the old scamograms they used 4 or 5 years ago (only the Brinx letter isn't used any more):

I have the full set here in my handbag from Control Account from 4 years ago when my car was lucky enough to collect a fake PCN from ECP in a Supermarket car park. Difference was I laughed when I saw the fake PCN, was secretly delighted as I knew the whole thing was a scam. I just showed my concerned husband that each threatogram matched the pics in our second to top sticky thread 'PPC letters & threats' which is where I got the above link from for you.
Nothing happened. It's a scam, not a fine. I have a mortgage, a clean credit record, a job that requires an enhanced CRB check and I used to be a Bank Assistant Manager so I wouldn't lightly ignore a real debt. This is not one of those!
Tell friends & family, like I do, never to pay a fake PCN from a private company. Only ever take seriously a real ticket from the Police, TFL, Local Authority Council, or rarely a real parking penalty issued genuinely under bylaws by a train operator. THose are the only ones to appeal/pay/take seriously.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

In January I returned to my car to find a Euro Car Parks parking fine attached. I have received all the ECP letters and court threats listed on this fabulous site. I thought I wouldn't hear anything else because I'd got the final one listed. But this morning I got another letter from 'Zenith Collections' saying they are now responsible for 'recovery of this debt' and that 'it is our intention to pursue it to a legal conclusion if necessary'. They are offering me another 'settlement' figure of £70. So far I have ignored ECP completely but now I'm not sure what to do. Is Zenith a separate firm of debt collectors? If so, should I call them? I will add the Zenith letter to the list if I can work out how to do it. Many thanks again to all you confident ones :A0
