My wife got this yesterday and started panicking as we didn't even know we had had a ticket. Apparantly she got a ticket in August this year. Just good to know that these type of forums exist to protect us....

Who on earth are their clients 'Car Parking Enforcement Company Ltd'? Not sure I have ever heard of those newbies jumping on the scam bandwagon.

"you will need to advise us immediately of the correct facts"

Oh no we don't you idiots.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Whilst at present it can be argued that calling parking charges "fines" is incorrect we all need to be aware of the likely effect of the draft "Protection of Freedom Bill" and in particular clause 56 of Shedule 4 therein. If this is passed ,as seems likely, this will introduce measures which will make registered owners liable under law for any parking charges which parking management companies issue. To object to this measure, lobbied by the British Parking Association, sign up to e-petition 6342 at the Direct Gov website. The draft bill has received its second reading in the House of Lords this week.
Under this proposed legislation the BPA will have legal powers to get details direct from DVLA and pursue vehicle owners for "parking charges"ie fines by any other term.
  • The plot thickens.......Recieved 2nd letter today....Wife has stopped panicking now after reading the advice and experiences of others on this forum......

Also we have just signed the e-petition 6342 at the Direct Gov website as suggested by bobrey.

We urge other users to do the same. Surely if every user of this site signed it, then it would make the government sit up and listen......

I can't post new links as a newbie, but someone can edit it here:

Come on guys we've only got 7000 signatures.....we're gonna need a lot more than that to make things happen in the motorists favour....

Well FWIW here is the link but bobrey's almost a year too late with bringing this to this forum. It's old news but another e-petition does no harm.

The subject has already been discussed since February on here very actively, with e-petitions already raised and signed when the Bill was still being prepared. Loads of threads on the subject every other week since then.

Here's the first thread we had (one of many which woud have been revealed with a quick search).

AND JUST TO POINT OUT, THIS STICKY THREAD IS ONLY FOR LETTERS - IT SHOUD NOT BE BUMPED WITH ANY OTHER QUERIES, JUST NEW LETTERS.

THESE COMMENTS WILL BE CLEARED UP AND MOVED BY CRABMAN SOON BECAUSE THIS THREAD IS NOT A DISCUSSION.

  • I have had a letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd acting on behalf of Euro Car Parks as I did not purchase a pay and display ticket on a Sunday of £1 and they wanted £70 fine in 10 days which I did not pay. I sent a letter with £2 in for the price of the ticket and in convenience which they returned. I did not put my name or address on the letter and told them the matter was considered closed. I admit I did not purchase a ticket as I thought it was free to park on a Sunday. It did used to be. I have had another letter asking for the monies and now a letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd. I need to know for sure that they will not 'get' me for this. I am feeling very anxious. Does anybody know if anyone has gone to court for this.

Could you PLEASE start your own thread, as this one is reserved for listing letters sent out by private parking companies.

Just take a step back and come off this individual thread first. Look at the top of the page for the breadbrumb trail in blue (it's a link). It starts 'Home > Forums >...' and all you need to do is click on the end of it (see my signature).

That gets you to the Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking forum itself. You will see this thread at the top and thousands of others. Read some threads, lots of threads, first and learn about the scam.

There's a 'new thread' button on the main forum view but PLEASE only post a thread if you really have to - soooo sorry, I don't mean to sound harsh but the info is already there on the top threads in this very forum. Bear in mind that EVERY thread you will see is asking the same question you did...and getting the same answer...! Your case is NO DIFFERENT. Ignore them for gawd's sake. It's a scam, you won't go to Court!

PLease read up on the scam and watch the Watchdog video you will find on the 'welcome, PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING'(!!) thread.

NO REPLIES HERE PLEASE. THIS IS AN INFO THREAD ON LETTERS, NOT A DISCUSSION THREAD.
