Nnot sure if this is the right place to be

Hello, I am not sure if this is the right place to be. I have searched the net for a forum that can help me with my issues ? I have three addictins

I over spend ( which gets me into debt)
I over eat (which makes me overweight)
and the third is not pretty, I crave mens attention  :eek: ( which makes me feel :(

I am aware that this is a money issues site. But wondered if anyone here can point me to a more appropiate site ?. i am aware that all three issues are linked and may ? know the reasons why i have them. But i am unable to find a site that can help me ?

i have read lots of posts on here and you all appear very helpfull, so thought one of you may have some information on a site that can help me.

I am too embarassed to go to the docotors with these issues, especialy the third one.

Thankyou for reading

Thankyou for your reply. My over eating and spending i do on a daily basis The third I keep under control and fight it. I do not act on it but being honest, there have been number of occations, when i have.

It is the eating and spending I need to learn to control better, I just thought i had better put all three in, as I did not want to keep anything back. I just dont know where to start.

    Thankyou

Ok like stokelady said I think its basic 'over indulgence' which lots of us are guilty of (in a nice way I mean and I'm very guilty of doing everything to excess)

First off why not post a statement of affairs here - SOA - there's a link somewhere - I'll see if I can find it.

Secondly if you're not sure what you are spending why not start a spending diary - it can be just on paper - or keep every singe receipt for a month/week and see where the money is going

a good online spending diary is www.spendingdiary.com

We're all a bit guilty of behaving in a way to make ourselves feel better - so please stop giving yourself a hard time and instead just think to yourself OK how do I sort this - you'll probably find you'll feel so much better in yourself - and this posting is a great start.

Goodluck and well done on getting yourself on here - off ot look for the SOA thingmy.............

PS why not join us on the small things thread - its a place where we list the small things to help reduce our debts we are going to do today - new thread every day and everyone has great ideas!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

The place to start is probably

    HERE

(click the link to go to the SOA thingmy)

Martins budget thing is ace as well and that link is

    HERE

It will help you easily see how much you're spending and how much you're over

PS when you start to get obsessed about moneysaving - most other things become secondary!!!!!!!!!

Helloo, I think you'll be very welcome here, it sounds like with the male attention thing that you're already doing well, because you manage not to act out on it majority of the time, but I'm sure there'll be someone with some advice on it on here, the folks on this site are pretty good at advising about everything!

Try the shopaholics thread, we all overspend on ridiculous things, and we're all addicted to junk food too!

Someone will be along with some better advice soon, but welcome :)

Hi and welcome to the site. I don't know of any other site to point you towards but you may find you can get a lot out of this site anyway.

Certainly we can help with the overspending by giving you tips and suggestions, you will also find that quite a number of people on here are also tackling weight/diet issues. And I think maybe if you can tackle those to perhaps you will start to feel better about all aspects of your life which will have a knock on effect to the third item.

All that said I notice you mention you don't want to see a doctor, however I wonder if you could be depressed/unhappy and this is why you are having all these issues - I'm no expert but I know for some people treatment and medication for depression can make a huge difference for taking back control of their lives.

As to where to start to me problem 1 seems like as good a place as any.

So do you have debt and are you struggling to make repayments? Do you have a set monthly budget for what you intend to allow yourself to spend in each area? Do you know where you money is being spent?

Perhaps setting a monthly budget would be a useful start, along with keeping a spending diary for a few months. In a spending diary you need to write down every single thing you spend (from £50 on new shoes down to even 50p on a bar of chocolate or a newspaper), this helps you identify where you are overspending and also sometimes just the act of having to write it down discourages you.

I have a small notebook which I carry with me for a spending diary (otherwise I forget), some use spreadsheets and others use www.spendingdiary.com, go for whichever works best for you.

Hope that gives you a starting point!
    Good luck

  • Thankyou zarzar for your words of support, I will check you's out at shopaholics.

Tixy not that i dont want to see a doctor,im just too embarrased to.
Yes i do have debt, its about ? 4,500. I do struggle to pay my debts but its just that i waste a lot of money shopping and eating. I do have enough to pay my debts, if I can stop wasting money.

I have found spendingdiary.com. I have opened an account and will use it from this moment.

I have no set budget or anything like it. I just check the bank and spend what i think is available and at times also what is not available.

    Thankyou

You're very welcome moneysaver, make sure you keep us posted, and post up your statement of affairs so we can all help you shave off those pennies you don't need to be spending :)
If you refer to this daily, like a diary, you can explain how you feel about things, and what you've done, and you can get feedback from us guys, and we'll try to motivate you best we can, plus it helps to have a little moral support sometimes :)

Is there a particular thing you spend on thats a main weakness for you?

If there is perhaps you could come with some sort or motivation challenge
E.g. if you often overspend on clothes or shoes or similar maybe set yourself a challenge whereby for every £50 extra you pay off your debts or every 2lb you lose in weight you put £10 towards a new fund which can then be used for new clothes
(or whatever would work for you)
