MrsE you sound so pessimistic. Don't give up on Charlie, keep looking for him. Don't leave anything to chance. I'm sure you've looked through other threads about missing cats, there is lots of advice on what to do. Keep busy with that and remember that everything you do is to bring Charlie back to you.0

I think the most intriguing tip on the other threads is to empty your hoover in the garden - have you tried this MrsE?0

No - will do that today.
He's really clever though, if he was nearby he would know he was....
But I will try it.
I've just remembered the other thing the RSPCA lady said to me (apart from the foxes), were their any old ladies who might be inclined to want to assume any cat is a stay & get him in & not let him out.
She asked me if this could have happened.
I said How would I know......
I thought it was quite a stupid thing to say.0 -
Perhaps it was just her way of saying what I have said - that as a striking pedigree he may well have been 'adopted' by someone else?0

No she asked if any old ladies near me could have stolen him.
I said to her "how would I know that".0 -
I was wondering about that hoover bag thing yesterday, won't it blow away?
Should I put it in a pot or something?
Or is it susposed to be on the ground?0 -
MrsE, the hoover bag thing is all about using your cat's sense of smell to your advantage in getting him back. Cats can identify and follow smell from literally miles around - the familiar smell of your home will be in the hoover bag. Could you put the contents in an old pillowcase or old pair of tights or something and leave that outside where the wind can blow around it? If it was in a pot that might contain the odour too much.
I am really hoping and praying Charlie comes back asap as I know how important he is to you.0 -
When I used the hoover bag I pulled a few big clumps out and threw them on the ground leading to my flat and then dumped the hoover bag right where I wanted the cat to go. Obviously don't put any too far away from your door or they will get confused but it was really windy when I did it and a few bits blew away but she still found her way back.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0

An old lady who's a neighbour came over today to ask if I had him back as she saw him on the door step at 6.30 this morning.
But I don't think she saw Charlie:(
One of my neighbours has two moggies who have very similar colouring to mine. One of them haunts my garden. I went around her house today to see if hers were out at 6.30 this morning (which I would guess they were anyway as they are always out) & I see they have a cat flap (an unrestricted type of one).
So she must have seen one of those.
I got up at 7.30 this morning.0 -
My cat has gone missing.
Has anyone got an stories to give me a bit of hope?
Yes, one of mine has gone missing three times.
The first time for 5 days and found near death but made an excellent recovery.
It looked like he'd been hit by a car and run off in panic.
Second time he was gone three days and found wandering in the local graveyard.
The third time he was gone for 49 days and we really thought he'd gone for good.
By an amazing coincidence a veterinary nurse found him in a field where she'd gone to feed her horses. He was very thin and had collar damage where his collar had slipped around his front leg and rubbed away causing infection but he made a full recovery. We think he'd freaked out the night he went missing by shotgun noise in the farmers field nearby and just ran in a straight line for about a mile.
Like you I phoned every vet, rescue centre, cats home, Rspca, CP, the council and leafleted the entire neighbourhood and put posters on lamposts. I also put reward notices in all the local papers. But he was found by chance.
Don't give up hope.0
