MrsE, it may well have been your Charlie that your neighbour saw....if he's not familiar with the cats which have similar colouring to him then he'd have legged it and hid. Could you have a chat with the neighbour with the two cats and ask them to keep their mogs in for a couple of days and nights so that your Charlie doesn't get scared off?

He's very familar with those cats.
They wouldn't keep their cats in, theirs are more outdoor than indoor cats.
If it was Charlie he wouldn't have run off again?

I also put reward notices in all the local papers. But he was found by chance.
    Don't give up hope.

I'm not doing the whole reward thing (not that I wouldn't happily pay one). But some of the local kids are a bit scummy & when they saw us putting the notices up they asked what the reward was.
I don't want them thinking its a nice little earner to grab my cat.

Sorry Charlie's still not back yet :(

There are two ways of thinking about offering a reward. I think they'll put a lot more effort in trying to find him if they think it's going to be worth their while.
I understand your thinking, but if it was me, I think I'd offer one as I'd just want my cat back

I really want Charlie back but I think the chances of someone finding him because of the reward V the little scrotes thinking its easy money to kidnap my cat is a risk I'm not prepared to take.
Honestly, it was the first thing out of their mouths & they are from "resourceful" families.
I've already lost one cat, I don't want to loose another.

I can't keep George in, I tried last night & he pooed on the floor when I wouldn't let him out, he won't use the tray.

  • I hope you find your cat soon - sometimes they will find a convenient house with cat food put out (whether for outdoor cats or wildlife) for a couple of nights.

Just spoke to the RSPCA local lady, she was the only one I didn't track down yesterday.

She said theres a marked rise in cat disappearances this time of year, the foxes are feeding their young & their aren't enough rabbits about:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Ever seen a fox with a cat? The fox is the junior one, because they only have teeth, the cats have teeth, razor sharp claws and can climb trees. A cat can quite easily intimidate a fox just but looking at it, never mind growling or hissing.

Stupid, blo ody ignorant woman. Foxes will go for roadkill - I can't think of a gentler way of putting it - and carrion - but they do not take live, stroppy cats.

Until I see video evidence of a fox taking down a live, healthy tomcat, I will feel this way - surely with all the pro fox hunting bods around, they would be publishing evidence of a decimated domestic cat population in towns, just to prop up their case for extermination/permission to hunt in city parks?

Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish...(grumbles off into distance)
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Charlie was a fussy cat, would only eat Royal Canin, so its unlikely he was lured by food.

He wasn't a big boy either, he was slight & slender & leggy (he was fast though).
He wasn't streetwise & used to sticking up for himself & he was netured, not a tom.
    But he was fiesty.
  • Fast and fiesty? Sounds like he has a good chance of making it home, MrsE. Don't give up yet! Just think of the fascinating things that lay just outside the back garden - he could have gone to check out/chase any of them with spring on the go. A female on heat is even attractive to neutered males, they just can't do much about their interest!

    Ignore the stupid RSPCA woman.
