That's one of the reasons I'm cat proofing the garden. There are soo many cruel people about. We moved into our new house just before Christmas and one of the removal men said "Euugh....I see you have cats" and then "my neighbour's got cats and all they do is S**t in my garden - so I've put a load of nails sticking out of the wood where they come through - if they get hurt, that's tough" and more......

Sorry to hear about your cat.
Don't give up on him yet. I have an indoor cat (live in a horrible area and am terrified she's get hurt - some of the things the gangs here have done to cats are horrific). She managed to get out somehow when work was being done on the house.
I walked the streets till all hours looking for her, with no luck at all. Then one night, three weeks later she turned up at the back door looking like complete crap lol. Still she was safe, and home, and besides a cold in her eye, healthy.Sigless0 -
Don't give up MrsE. He may have been spooked by something. LCx

What breed is he?
I always tell my owners that don't live in the middle of nowhere that pedigrees should be indoor cats as they have not had the natural selection that non pedigrees do. They have been bred for looks and not street smarts as happens with moggies. Also they are more vulnerable to being snatched as often they are obviously pedigree.
Definitely tell the RSPCA or even the local vet about the man that said he would shoot the cat. My brother had a cat that was shot and it was nasty - thankfully he survived.
I am surprised at the RSPCA saying that - I would seriosuly doubt that a fox could take a fully grown cat. http://www.thefoxwebsite.org/faq/urbanfoxproblems.html#q2
We have had a couple of close shaves with our cats that go out - one missing for a week another that went missing for a weekend then came back and then went missing again the next weekend, but never came back - he has almost certainly been adopted by someone else. - Interestingly he was a beautiful long haired, tabby moggy with a placid, cuddly personality.0 -
Yes, tell the Police - why on earth would you not? If nobody tells them what this person is doing to animals then they will never know. If it's not a police matter they will tell you, but cruelty is a criminal offence. He cannot defend his behaviour if it is true.
.
I didn't know if they would even take it seriously.
After all he hasn't done anything, its just what he said to my dd.
I will ring them tomorrow.0 -

He's an bluepoint exotic shorthair.
That means they mixed shorthairs & persians to get shorthaired persians, so they have persian faces & persians big & chunky bodies with a short plush teddy bear like coat. His colouring then was bluepoint, which is like the same as siamese fur. So he was rare & unusual looking. PKD almost wiped out the colourpoint persians & exotics are even rarer, so to get a colourpoint exotic was hard. Only a few breeders in the country do exotics, only a handful of them have colourpoints.
Charlie also had a superflat "ultra" face. To be honest (& I'm not a fan of such breeding) I'm worried about how he would get by. He couldn't eat if there wasn't lots of food in the bowl because his face is so flat he can't get the last bits:(
The RSPCA lady wasn't very hopeful at all, she really knocked me for six. She said something else that sent me reeling but I can't remember what it was now.
I will tell the police & the RSPCA about what he said.0 -
Take solace from the fact that as an unusual blue point he may have been 'adopted' - Let the breed soceity know as well - you never know. My raggie boy is a blue point and my big Coonie boy is a solid blue - I love the blues, they are not only clearly pedigree by type, but by colour.
The link I gave you details that a fox taking a cat is very unlikely.0
