Now that sounds like my sort of thing!:D**"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin."**0 -
I have no idea what "quality time" is, other than the phrase originated in America. Isn't it normal for mums to spend time with their children doing stuff with them according to the wants and needs of both ?
Which is why I put ' ' around 'quality' in my opening post.
One definition I have heard of 'quality' time is that it is a term invented by people who only see their children to put them to bed.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

I know there's as many fathers as mothers I was wondering if as many fathers think about 'quality time'?
As many fathers think about quality time as mothers. Why not?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
my dh is GREAT at quality time. He is a big kid himself and I am so grateful to have him, I think we balance each other out, I like to do the educational and the dutiful, he likes to do the play. He does all sorts with them and they totally adore him. Builds them dens, plays rough, even plays my little pony. Sometimes I do get a little sad that they worship him so much and I am just boring old mum, but i know its my own fault for preferring the more serious things like reading books and puzzles etc. For the most I love to hear them all laughing and mucking about together.:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0

I was actually thinking the same sort of thing today (do people "play" with there children) and was going to post on the mummy and baby forum i go on. I spend about 2/3 hrs a day with my youngest (15 months) playing and i really enjoy it and did the same with my eldest child but had alot more time with my first, unfortunatly now i have to do school run etc. With my eldest ds we read mags together, do writing and flashcards (his fav thing atm) and watch programmes and talk about them he loves animal documentarys, top gear etc (although these are more daddy time)
I think its ok to not "enjoy" doing these things but to still do them iykswim a bit off topic but i watch a wife swap were the mum was always with the child but was the laziest person ever the kid had no quality time in or out the house with anyone0 -
seven day weekend I think you have mentioned your son is ASD? I will say that children on the spec tend to like repetitive behaviour. So maybe that's why you were alittle bored? There is only so many times you can enjoy a book and hear the same responses, the same goes for games/actives. Sometimes I felt I was in the film Groundhog Day!
My sister has a young 'un to entertain and as much as I love my niece, I don't want to be doing it all over again, the parks, swimming pool and the wacky warehouse are not missed! But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0
