OK we have been on to MCD asking for explanation of what's happened and it seems some people have received an email in error. Their reply is as follows.
    • There have been some cases where the payment process and the communication was not 100% aligned. All the users where the money was successfully transferred and got an email saying “Cancellation of deal due to payment problems at your mycitydeal” will receive their voucher. We will send out a new confirmation email of the successful transaction within the next 24 hours, probably early afternoon.

In other words - its systems messed up and sent the wrong email out to some people (as noted often the scale of traffic MSE email sends is just not easy for any site to cope with) - we have discussed this with it and it says its sorting it (lets just say we're 'pushing' hard on this!

    • I can confirm once again that the deal was open to everyone without limitations (not only to new registrations).

    • There have been questions if the tickets were available all over UK or just for single cities and I can confirm again, that the tickets will be valid for all cineworld tickets in the UK, independently where they were bought
Folks we always check out deals before we run them - as we did with this - and we always try and ensure people get what they legitimately expect. This will be no different. If you're one of the few who got this rogue email keep us in touch with what's happening and we will keep pushing hard to make sure everyone gets what they legitimately expect.

I just recieved another confirmation email from them.
must admit to being abit confused now and I am just going to sit back and see if the ticket turns up or not!

edit - even more confused now as just reread the email and it has the wrong name on it!?!?

They have had a lot of problems with over subscribed deals, wrong emails, deals cancelled (one of mine was, despite my payment going through; must check my statement when it comes through) and another still not turning up about 10 days later.

Have had one go through so that is good (starbucks card). I think they are a victim of their own success. Small office run by foreign company (ie, language problems it seems in some emails that I got; some error'd transactions came to me in German) who try to do a 20,000 person deal and get hammered :P

    They aren't a scam, though.

doesnt help those that didnt bother because their local cinema was sold out. Not a very customer focused company if they cant get that right, they must have known the amount of people who would have received MSE email and if they were my company I would want to get the free advertising to 2 million people correct.
  • I've not had anything back at all since ordering, no email or nothing!! x
  • Actually, I have just logged onto mycitydeals account, and under my orders it shows the £1 cinema ticket, and says deal successful, the vouchercode will be sent by email....

The one I ordered for myself I got a confirmation email saying it was successful, the one my hubbie ordered no follow up email and when he checked on his account is STILL showing the following message
<LI class=order-list-status>Deal accepted, waiting for the necessary number of customers
I'm assuming then he's not getting his if still no confirmation a day later. I know its only a pound and all and not work getting knickers in a knot about but very badly administered, and cr*p customer service.

On Facebook, MyCityDeals NOW tells us we will get our vouchers by POST within 7 working days.

So why did they tell ME and others: "the vouchers HAVE BEEN SENT BY EMAIL" (but nowt happened) ??

They really are pathetic. TOTAL CONFUSION and a waste of time.

My account says the same as your husbands, I also got an email saying the deal had to be canceled. So I dunno
