Hi folks,
Very glad so many people enjoyed this deal. I've been through the thread and seen there are a few people reporting payment glitches, and though thankfully the number seems to be relatively small considering the popularity of the deal. (nearly 200,000 viewed it today so far- thankfully it ran out just after the last weekly email was sent so everyone who gets it had a fair chance)
My City deals is a newish website with big financial backing; its pumping out deals to try and build its site and has already been covered in the national media. It does these deals mostly by buying them and selling them at a discount - loss leaders if you like. So any problems are likely to be a nightmare for it as its all about reputation building so hopefully it'll be easy to sort.
While its been operating successfully for a time, and there's been good feedback on the site. We've not included it in the weekly email simply because of capacity (most of its deals were for 100s and for good deals in the weekly email you need be able to cope with 10,000s).
The Cineworld deal was something my team have been chatting to them about for over a week trying to arrange something good for MoneySavers. Yet frankly the popularity of this suprised even us - its one of the biggest single page views we've ever had.
Even though we tell companies this - they never quite believe the sheer scale of something popular in the email - there are other emails nearly as big (we're 4.2m) but as we're opt-in and they're mainly auto sign up people have chosen to get it so it has a much bigger reaction. And frankly every time that happens there are glitches (we've even crashed banks before with so much traffic!)
As I'm only reading this at 7.30pm there's little I can do now, but my team will check through the issues reported and get answers to some of the question above tomorrow morning and we'll post them here.
Some of the problem does seem to be with people attempting to do multiple transactions - where this specifically was a one per person deal (we will dig into whether thats by email or card number tomorrow)
Also a couple of notes are about past deals with MCD - as far as I know this is the first one it did that was 'open to all not just new registrants' something we pushed for. So those who note they've done a couple of deals in the past and some have been cancelled its likelty to be because of that.
Anyway my main point is to say - I've seen the note above, and these are just provisional thoughts before checking the issue sout properly to say we will look at it asap (which is tomorrow morning) and as always try and ensure people are treated fairly - and if not we'll give 'em hell.
Either one of my team or I will post again by 12 tomorrow
If you've had any problems differing from the ones already posted please leeh me know

OK we have been on to MCD asking for explanation of what's happened and it seems some people have received an email in error. Their reply is as follows.

OK we have been on to MCD asking for explanation of what's happened and it seems some people have received an email in error. Their reply is as follows.
- There have been some cases where the payment process and the communication was not 100% aligned. All the users where the money was successfully transferred and got an email saying “Cancellation of deal due to payment problems at your mycitydeal” will receive their voucher. We will send out a new confirmation email of the successful transaction within the next 24 hours, probably early afternoon.
In other words - its systems messed up and sent the wrong email out to some people (as noted often the scale of traffic MSE email sends is just not easy for any site to cope with) - we have discussed this with it and it says its sorting it (lets just say we're 'pushing' hard on this! - I can confirm once again that the deal was open to everyone without limitations (not only to new registrations).
- There have been questions if the tickets were available all over UK or just for single cities and I can confirm again, that the tickets will be valid for all cineworld tickets in the UK, independently where they were bought
