Only things that I could think of are flowers, shoes or thank you gifts.

Sounds like you are all planned!

I know it's bad to wish the summer away but I can't wait for December to get here! x

i have ordered some of the rose bouquets from dunelm that someone started another thread about recently but haven't picked them up yet to see what they're like will go tomorrow i think.
Got my shoes already too, bridesmaids will be sorting themselves out i think.
Thank you gifts i had forgotten about though!

Thought i'd resurrect this thread seen as i haven't posted on it for nearly 2 months!

Hope everything is still going to plan for everyone.

I was made redundant last week as my employer has gone into liquidation. Fortunately I wasn't working many hours for them anymore so the loss of earnings hasn't come as too much of a blow to our finances but it is still the end of 6 years working for them and a scary propostition to be unemplyed for the first time ever!

Things should still be able to go ahead as we planned but I am prepared to cut things out if we are short on cash nearer the time. The balance on the ceremony and reception is about £1500 now and most clothing, jewellery and decorations have been bought already so no a huge amount to find within the next few months when compared to some weddings. I am glad now that we planned a frugal day from the outset as I would hate to think how upsetting it must be to plan an extravagant day and then to find that circumstances no longer allow it.

Anyway not really got much to do in the way of planning until nearer the time. My cake has been made and will now be fed until november when it will be decorated and finished 3 weeks before so the icing can set.

Our invitations are underway, planning on sending them out mid to end august with an rsvp of october, hoping to get them back well before then though so if we do have any declines we can invite other people to the full day.

Next milestone is September when we have a meeting at the venue to finalise menus and timings for the day.

Whats everyone else been up to?

  • i keep looking for extra things I can make which are really cheap but effective to keep me busy seen as i am out of work now! might have to get my christmas decorations out of the loft and see what I can make with it all to decorate our venue room.

Hi ladies! My God, it's been ages since posted!! So sorry to hear of your redundancy binky - glad to hear you're keeping busy with all things wedding/Christmas!

So update time: seem to have been busy busy busy yet achieved very little. Still soooooooo much to do!

Making invites this weekend, or at least starting them so hopefully they can go out around 22nd September, 3 months before wedding. Other stationery also being homemade and will be done soon - ordered all the card/paper for £35 for 10 day guests (invites, place cards, order of day) & 90 evening guests (invites, table name cards, signing frame etc).

Ummmed and aaahhhed over dresses (mine & bridesmaid's) for so long and in end my mum is making them!! She used to be a professional seamstress although her time nowadays is pressed and I know she's feeling a bit of pressure cos only 3 months left and she wants them to be perfect but who better to make them than my mum and I know she'll do me proud.

Suits are hired: 6 for £360 including edwardian style suit, shirt, waistcoat, cravat & shoes which we thought was not too bad!

Photographer sorted - OH's uncle doin as favour, he's not a pro but done courses and coupla weddings so we're happy and he's also making our cake - he makes the most moist, delicious fruit cake I've ever tasted and he made my m&d's anniversary cake a coupla years ago which was lovely - also a favour, just costing us the ingredients/extras + a nice gift for him.

DJ not booked but another family member a professional retired DJ (he's not as old as that makes him sound) so I'm planning on asking him; he's already virtually said he'll do it as a one-off but need to ask him officially.

Flowers - we're ordering few weeks before & doing own simple hand tied - calla lilies.

Hair/make-up - doing our own, had few trial runs already & quite excited at prospect of wedding morning with mum & sis doing hair & make-up!

Most importantly...honeymoon's booked!!! We're going to Paris 28/12-2/1.

Still to sort: table decorations (balloons & also crackers (wedding style/not Xmas despite 2 days before Xmas!) to act as informal favours with coupla heart chocs inside (I'm thinking at min anyway), RINGS - no idea where to start, gifts for bridal party and all the other little things that I keep thinking of.

My intention throughout was to keep it simple yet make the evening do as special as we could for our evening guests....how do these things snowball???!!!

Hope I haven't bored you all too much with my ridiculously long post! What about the rest of you....update us!

Well, spent all day making invitations as didn't get chance last weekend and they're almost finished. Just finishing touches and envelope labels to do. Quite excited! I'm not sure if sending out 3 months before looks bit eager, especially for evening do, but then our RSVP is 15th Nov so guests have less than 2 months to reply.

  • I sent most of mine out throughout august and have just finished this week sending out the remainder and the evening invites I put a deadline to RSVP of 1st October and so far have had around 5 replies but I think lots of people have just assumed that we know they are coming!
