Hi, ours is 22nd December. Only just started planning it though in last month or so, so booked venue, registrar, giving notice etc and rest of stuff are only ideas in my head and on paper at min....bridesmaid dress being sorted, may be making my dress with mum but unsure as yet. Otherwise, getting there slowly!

No!! No save the date cards sent but we're having very small ceremony with only 12 very close members of family (who have already ensured time off work) and then an evening reception (party!!) on the evening for everyone else! It's very close to Christmas and yes it is mid-week (Wednesday) but if people can't make it we'll understand. We only want something very small.

Well, not too sure what to do tbh, as it's only the party (sorry evening reception lol!!) that will affect our guests - should we send save the date cards...what do you think??

I'm going to send out, whether it be on save the date or invites, a note to explain that we're having very small ceremony but an evening reception for all to attend, so as not to offend those who assume they would be invited to the ceremony (there's always going to be someone hence why we've gone so small on numbers - we think if it's just parents, grandparents and siblings there, other guests will have to like it or lump it!) We're happy with it being so intimate but would like people to feel they can attend party (!!) without feeling we're only inviting them to get a present, which isn't the case (hence another note/poem to explain this!)

i think we will have to send save the dates soon because the amount of people coming who do work i think i will do the magnet save the dates

if your having that amount of guests i wouldn't send a save the date but just a evening invite with a poem about the cermony too. :)

mines friday 3rd december! i'm sending out my save the dates this weekend because i know december is such a busy month for people and i have also included details on room prices and how to book with the hotel because we have a lot of guests invited who live 1hour+ drive away and i don't want to send out invites in september and find out the hotel has no rooms left for anyone we invite!

We are getting married on New Year's Eve!

So far we have managed to arrange most things, venue, registrar, we have already given notice, my dress, bridesmaid dresses, wedding rings, flowers, cake, suit hire, band, menu.....oh and I am in the middle of making the invitations.

We have not sent save the date cards out as before we booked the date, we either rang, text or e-mailed practically everyone we wanted there to check that they would be able to make it.

We can't wait - it is wrong to wish the summer away....?

Gosh, you're very organised jch!! We're not as far in advance as yet...venue, registrar, notice pretty much sorted now (as long as we dont get any objections during the notice period!!), poss making my dress instead of buying as my mum a seamstress (time permitting), know which bridesmaid dress I want (only 1 bridesmaid - my sis), just waiting to get it as cheap as poss! Cake being made by relative - so sorted, menu, order of servide, invites will be homemade - designed but not yet made, flowers - still not sure - i really want calla lillies but not priced fresh ones as yet (putting it off as know how expensive they will be!), considering artificial but want to make sure they are as fresh looking as possible, not even thought about wedding rings but we each want a simple white gold band each and suit hire i'm leaving in the (un)capable hands of h2b though i'm certain i'll have to get involved in that at some point!! Phew....! Some days I feel like it's all in hand, others I think OMG there's so much still to sort!

Calla lilies - what good taste you have - me too!

Unfortunately, due to my work from April through to October, I can easily work six weeks without a full day off and due to the weather I never know what I will be doing one day to the next, so had to try and get as much organised before the flying season starts as possible.

We got the bridesmaid dresses (4) from the boxing day sales. My bridesmaids live all over the country and due to Christmas they were all home so we went out and hit the shops. Was really keen that we got something they could all wear again, and ended up in Coast with some beautiful dresses that they all loved! It was even the first dress they had all tried on!

My dress also came out of the sales. I have to admit that I was going to hire a dress as we have a family friend who has a hire company. However I went to a shop to try some on, mainly with the idea of trying to find out what suited me and came out with a half price dress that looks like it was made to measure.

I know what you mean about one day thinking you have everything under control and planned and the next completely different. Guess it is just a wedding thing.......
