Thanks bubbles. That's what I was trying to tell myself. I don't think it's that they don't know the designer, they've just been VERY averse to telling me who it is. And now the dress is off their hands, I don't suppose they think it matters!
Never mind. I'm happy with the quality and the feel of it; it hangs nicely which indicates good material (from having read the recent threads about Chinese BM dresses!). I'll just have to tell people it was handmade for me by a dressmaker!
ETA: yes, Lexxi, that's the one. I don't know why they would cut labels out when they claim to have exclusivity to one brand. Surely you would want to advertise the brand?
Sending positive vibes for your OHs job interview! xIf you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
You'll just have to tell people it's a one off, I'm sure they'll be too blown away to notice otherwise! So have they still not told you who it was made/designed by? If it's a long standing bridal place could you write to the manager and say you think it is odd and try and wangle veil/tiara off them?
Thank you! xx0 -
joho if your happy im happy:) now teach ya mum how to take a piccy!!
here ya go lexxiI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Yep, I agree Lexxi. Made for me, 100% unique! And of course they will be blinded by my beauty, radiance and elegance on the day - too much to notice the dress! Either that or they'll all be completely staggered to see me in a dress!
No, they still haven't told me who the designer is. Like I say, now it's off their hands they're probably not bothered. I'm not bothered about a veil or tiara - not planning on wearing either. Think I'll just give it up as a lost cause.
I don't quite know how longstanding the shop is, as it wasn't in my usual shopping area - it was a completely spur of the moment thing to go in. They have a pic on their website saying they are the newest bridal shop in town, but it's not dated!
They were very helpful in other ways and reduced the price when I haggled. Just this odd attitude about names. The shop was the Bridal Lounge, Bury, Lancashire - so if anyone else has used them, maybe they can comment.
ETA: LOL bubbles! Soon as i can get back to Manchester to try it again, I'll get photos!
I've lost my thanks buttons, so can't thank either of you!If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
Just got back from honeymoon, WOW, highly recommend the Secrets Maroma Beach in Mexico. FAB!
day had a few hickups including no choir at church (got refund cheque when got home made out to wrong name, not bad to say they married us lol), cake had been damaged in transit (despite the fact we paid the cake people to deliver it so would not be any problems), 4 people rang the night before to say they were not coming then a further 6 people just didnt bother turning up at all, nice. The band had a problem fitting into the room at first but soon sorted. but in the end it turned out to be the best wedding ever, laughter and tears in the church, dancing the night away until 2am, some fab pictures (going to see professional ones today). everyone said they had the best time.
Good luck to everyone else and no matter what happens just go with the flow.
Thank you to all posters0 -

Gah!!! Would everyone planning on getting married on 19th September 2011 at 3.30pm at St Pauls Bay, Lindos please not!
I want that date, time and location! Grrrrr.;)
Am a bit disappointed at the moment - can't get the date or chapel that we want, so we're going to have to change date to Thursday 22nd and maybe the chapel too! I knew Lindos was popular but, blimey, not this popular and so many organised people booking ahead already!
Hey monkeys bunny - how gorgeous do you look! And, is that your cake in the little pic? How cool is that?!?!If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
