I've run out of fingers to cross for everyone so crossing my toes, legs and arms for you all :-)
OH has said he'd be happy with a registry office wedding and a meal in a pub. To make up for doing that on the cheap he wants a £6k honeymoon. P and O Caribbean cruise!
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!! lol.Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0 -
@Lexxi, screamer and morwenna - No such luck. The sign said they weren't even supposed to start til the 20th but they're already there.
For 45 weeks.
Booooo!!!
Stoopid Liverpool City Council!Married Ajichombo on 17th April 2010 :j0 -
Could you try writing to the council and explaining how upset you are that they have totally ruined yor wedding and you would never have booked/booked that date because of the works? They usually have to give so much notice that they are planning works.
Also try speaking with the hotel, see if you can wangle any extras from them becuase if the council aren't forthcoming with you then they may be with a business who could be losing an awful lot over having to give a lot of people extra/cheaper gestures for the nuisance caused, imagine if it was a weekday wedding, trying to hear the registrar over a jackhammer!
I know the local paper picked up on a row of shops whose business' were affected because the local council were dragging out works.0 -
That sucks about the roadworks raspabarbas

Poor raspa, I really hope you get something sorted soon.
And congrats Gemmzie, I'm jealous :-)
Have signed up with another forum and have asked for any cheap nice bits. If OH wants his dream honeymoon then I've had to cut corners. here's what I've acheived so far!
Rings down from £800 to £549.
I'm sorry Linda but I've found a beautiful dress for £65. Brand new. The bride bought it off ebay but it's too small. It will probably be too big for me so I'll still need your help :-)
Veil £5, hotfix crystals to brighten it up £3.
Shoes £18
Tiara, big blow out here, between £25 and £30. The forum has a member who bought one from America and after hearing my plight she's offered to sell it to me at cost!
Suit for OH. don't know because he's being funny about it. Hopefully Linda can help with his waistcoat!
Flowers- artificial- £100
Still unsure about bridesmaid. I daren't message my sister, I'll just get abuse!
Registry office, unsure, about £50.
I've made too many plans, we're not getting married utnil next year!!Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0 -
I love how organised you are screamer, and how cheaply you've done everything so far. Pretty sure registry office fees are much higher than £50 though! No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

well bubbles I will finally be taking your advice and tonight when the kiddies go to bed Im going to write a letter to sir rich and send copies to high management. Im so sick of the problems now, its only 5 months untill were meant to fly out :eek: and the guy from virgin who is meant to be fixing things and dealing with my case no longer takes any of my calls and never gets back to me either.
The really annoying thing is we have the weddings team phoning us loads trying to sell us extras for the wedding at whats supposed to be special offer prices when in fact only a few £ has been knocked off the prices. I need this booking sorted and my partial refund sorted before they get another single penny out of me!!!!! grrrrr this is not helping my healthy eating plan at all....Ive been feeling really down and raididng the ice-cream tub
Really I should be wedding dress shopping now and not still dealing with problems with virgin :mad:0 -
aw angel im sorry its awful isnt it!! i hope its sorted soon for you, you should still go shopping though itll cheer you upxx
gemmzie it depends what you want from the reg office as to how much it is, ive known it as little as £30!
screamer your well organised its never too soon to plan, were gettong marriedin september 2012 ans i need to book the place soon 1) incase it gets booked as its a special day we want and 2) just to get one thing on apaper at least as ive been traipsing the net for a couple of months now and nothings set in stone an i dont like it!!
oh raspa thats awful! i hope the works can be put off for a couple of hours atleast they could have an earlier/extended lunch couldnt they?
skint i hope they fit for you all too let us knowI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Hi I am new to this forum and have no plans to get married but, because of my business, I go to a lot of weddings and wedding fairs so see a lot of brides in their gowns.
I really do NOT want to offendbut please do give careful thought to your dress. Everybody is interested in the wedding dress but many bridal shops seem to be lacking in creativity and imagination lately. I have no vested interest in wedding gowns but would like to suggest that brides look in the direction of self-employed dressmakers who seem to come up with beautifully creative and highly fashionable creations which are that little bit different from the norm.
Just a thought! Good luck with your preparations.0 -
thanks proudtobe.. but to have your own made usually comes with the bespoke price tag which i just cant afford!I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0
