thanks gemm i love all wedding stuff :D

i seem to be going round in circles at the mo
havent got enough saved to pay for anything but all i keep thinking about is buying and paying deposits for stuff!
its silly really as im putting it in savings accounts so cant spend it now or ill lose the interest
on the plus weve got another £100+ in 50 pence pieces, it feels more real than transfers across ionternet banking, like were actually saving iyswim lol

aw bless ya comp, not long now a?
from one extreme to the other here, ive got 17 months to go youve got days!

im getting wound up already with certain things though! well my mother to be exact :(
she lives the other end of the country to me, but hardly speak on the phone but we went down for a hol last week

i made an appointment at a bridal shop to try on dresses for the first time with her, we dont see each other often so thought it would be a nice thing to do
i said i had a budget of £500 for my dress and would get a second hand one if i had to
'oh you dont want second hand' er why not? theres nothing wrong with it
'well let me pay for it then' no ive got £500 you could add to it then if you want(upping the budget)
we went in one bridal shop while waiting for the appointment at another, they had a brochure for menswear which has their head office down the road from where we live! flicked through it and like this, disliked that as you do then she pipes up
'youll have to tell (name of her BF) he needs to wear a matching suit he wont wear one else'
    me 'oh right'
mum 'he will be wearing one wont he? he is on the top table isnt he? as hes with me in the wedding party'
me 'i hadnt thought about it like that' felt like saying i see him less than i do you an thats twice a year if that, rarely talk on the phone to him, i didnt think he was going to wear a suit and certainly not be on the top table :(
my grandad is giving me away as my dads not here, i have a total of 10 on the TT so i good even number plus as i said i dont really want mums BF on there as i hardly know him!

so i tried on dresses for the first time with her and love one which was totally different shape to what i thought i wanted
it ticked the boxes as in it had no beads, was taffeta and had ruffles but it was dropped waist rather than a line
i only tried on one other dress as that was the only other one they had with no beads but it was a plainer design
i didnt want to make up my mind straight away as the shop is so far away from where i live plus i need to try on other styles first
as we were leaving to come home yesterday she kept saying ill pay for the dress, please let me, have you decided you want that one?
me 'no ive got to try on more yet'
plus i dont really want her to pay for it,itll be like shes got a hold over me an ill have to have her BF on the top table! :(

    sorry for the essay:o

Bubbles, sounds like you had a tough weekend with your Mum. I was at a wedding on Sat & the top table consisted of the Bride & groom & the two bridesmaids, that was it. The rest of the wedding party were sat at the tables with the other guests. Make sure you do what your happy with:D
Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.

  • It could be worse... My dress is a similar(ish) style to the one Kate Middleton wore in the evening!

    Hey all,

Newbie to this thread, wasn’t going to post as a felt a bit silly!

Well my amazing Mr asked me to Marry him 3 weeks ago, im so excited. I wasn’t expecting it- and couldn’t be happier!

We are looking at a wedding in July/August 2012 hopefully, but at the moment we are currently moving home and I am stressing out about everything! I have been going through some of the threads and found some excellent advise/tips!

One question though.. did you / are you having an engagement ‘party?’ are these common? I have no idea where to start with everything… but extremely excited! :D:D:D

    Welcome and congratulations!!! :j

We didn't have an engagement party and haven't been to one before. I know of couples who have had them though... If you want to have one, go for it!
