OMG! I ordered my invites on Sunday morning and they've just been delivered at work! Can't believe how quick they were!

I was hoping they would take a little while to come so that I wouldn't have to send them out too soon, and then some people I don't want to invite (but have had to compromise on) might have made other plans and not be able to attend! :O How horrible am I?!?!?

Am going to have to wait awhile anyway, as I have taken advantage of the Vistaprint 'free' postcard offer for RSVP cards and they could take 3 weeks to come yet! Might take me 3 weeks to 'build' them all - tying the ribbon will take at least 2 hours per invite as am a bit of a cack-handed f***wit at times!
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.
  • Just fancied a moan and this seemed like the best place to post it! We have got 3 days left until our rsvp deadline and we are still waiting on 20 people to reply, to make things worse they include OH's dad, grandad and most of his aunties and uncles. We even saw his dad the other day and since we announced the wedding he has never spoken about it, asked any questions or joined in and wedding talk we have had around him! I really want to chase people up now but I guess i have to wait for the date to pass first. It is so frustrating because I am trying to work out our food and drink costs but can't do this properly without final numbers. It has made me feel bad about it all because we have had replies from distant friends and evening guests sooner than from immediate family!
  • oh dear binky! yeah id wait till after the date to chase up but do you think that because theyr immediate family they think they dont really need to reply as its a given theyr going?
i will be giving them invites(parents/grandparents) but i know they will be there and dont expect an rsvp, auntys/uncles im not sure on so i will need an rsvp and if they havnt by the deadline i will ask the relevant parent(ie their brother or sister) to ask them if they are coming or not, if i still dont get a reply i will expect them not to come!
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

I really have no idea! I have family on my side who haven't rsvp's but have booked rooms at the hotel so i know they are going but his side haven't even mentioned anything to do with it in passing like its not even happening! I think i will wait until this weekend and then get another family member to give them a nudge and if that doesn't work then make the time to go and visit each one to find out!

Can I just ask you ladies about your advice on something?

I had my hair trial a couple of weeks ago, and although it looked lovely, the curls dropped out after a couple of hours. My hair is naturally curly anyway (think big thick long wild curls lol) but I wanted softer curls which she did with GHD's. I tried myself after that with ceramic tongs, but with the amount of hair I have it would take hours, and I don't have a lot of time as we're getting married at 11.30am.

Instead of me stressing on the day and having the curls drop out, I've asked the hairdresser if she would just do the front of mine after I've dried it, which is just a small parting at the front and a bit of a bump so my headpiece can sit properly.

Originally she was charging £35 for my hair and £25 for daughters. Daughter still wants hers doing, but how much would you expect to pay for just doing the front bearing in mine it will only take about 10 minutes if that???

I've tried to ring her but got no answer, so I've just text her to explain what I want and I'm waiting on a reply.

Thanks bubbles, she only lives about a 5 minute walk from me if that, say 2 minutes to drive here because she's got all her stuff with her.

I still haven't heard anything back but will try to ring again this evening as I'm not sure if she has another job on particular days and see what she says.

My hairdresser blow dried my hair into soft curls the other day. Was quite successful. At the next visit she had a go at GHD'ing them into curl - didn't even last 30 minutes!!

I don't see why tonging would take that much longer than GHDs?
    I love surprises!

Because I've got a lot of hair so the sections for tonging would have to be smaller than sectioning for GHDs, so would take about 3 times longer. For the curls I originally wanted anyway.

I'll have to stick with my wild mane now because we haven't got the time, nor do I want curls that will drop out.

Well I've cancelled my hair, because she wanted to charge me £20 just to put the bump in the front so she's just gonna come and do daughters hair instead.

I just can't justify paying that for something which will only take a few minutes.
