  • Hi, i have a cash card+, used to have just the standard cash card! Its a visa debit, looks exactly the same really, purple coloured card but has the chip on it now and a visa debit sign! I reported my card lost last week and this card arrived 3 days later. I got bored of waiting to see when nationwide were going to send them out, so thought reporting my card lost might work and it did!

I applied through online banking for new account and was offered Cash vard+. Got letter about week ago asking for signature which i completed and returned. Today got home and new cash card+ lying on mat. Card has different sort code and account number and now have basic account and cash card+. Will go into work tomorrow and transfer wage details to new card.
Am wondering then if they will go ahead and give me an upgrade on old account or leave it since i already have cash card+ as don't know if you can have 2 cash card+'s in same name. Either way, its here!!

How long between sending it off and your new cards coming did it take?
Were you an existing customer with them?

Think the whole process was 10 days, through online banking as currently have basic account with them.
  • Im in the same boat as subz91, bit annoyed with nationwide and will go in to the branch tomorrow to sort this out. I also have the halifax basic bank account which has the visa electron which is fine but you cant pay money over the counter unless its a large amount. But Halifax do have automatic paying in machines in branch which are very easy to use.

i live neer york and the nationwide there has the paying in machines. i guess thats just down to the size of the branch. and this is really annoyed me as the only reason i havent moved to another bank before now is because they said they were bringing out these new cards. when i first got my accout they said when i hit 18 i can upgrade cards to a normal card so i would be able to use it on the internet and such, i turn 18 i send off the request and get denied. so i think it is time to move to a more reliable bank :/
  • Good news, I used the secure messaging system on nationwides website and have been told that nationwide experienced technical problems with the rollout and gave me the choice of either ordering the new type of cards which will be with me within ten days or a guarantee that the new cards will be in place by september. I chose the ten day option.

I actually had the same problem when I turned 18. They wouldn't let me upgrade my cash card as I had hardly used it, but instead they told me to open up a normal debit card anyway (without upgrading)!
