I got my cashcard plus card today. When I got the letter a few weeks ago I went into Nationwide to tell them I don't want a debit card; they basically told me it was tough. Anyhow the card came today and I hadn't realised until then that you cannot use it at ATMs abroad. This is a big problem for me as our wages are paid weekly directly into this account and we are going on a 4 week holiday to Australia in a few weeks' time. How are we going to be able to access OUR OWN money? I really don't know what to do. I will need cash while I'm there.
Any thoughts please?
I am so angry I am going to open a savings account elsewhere and take all of my other accounts away.0 -
TBH Nationwide are OVER RATED and definately NOT the best building society out there, a decade ago I would have had them down as firm but very fair, now they are turning into god forbid Abbey, and i fear some time soon they will demutalise! She LEFT me, she LIED, and she made me foot the BILL ! :mad:0

Yup or Caxton 2nd best, I have the global traveller as opening a Citibank UK account with deposit accounts in USD, AUD & Euro means when in these countries its easy to open a full savings or current account as a Citibank UK customer - there are loads of countries savings deposit accounts you can open linked to your Citibank UK a/c, with Visa debit & cheque book.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
I got the new cashcard+ today and was told to cut up my current cash card, I also notice on the website it states: "please note that cash card+ cannot be used to withdraw cash overseas."
What!?
They are seriously messing people around with with this, automatically downgrading to a severely disabled product with limited functionality!
Surely this can't be legal can it?
So now what are the options, I have to open a new account with citibank or something and transfer all my stuff?
I hope everyone will write a formal complaint about this terrible situation.0 -

Anyway it's not ethical.
Why don't they just charge a fee for overseas ATM transactions, seems mad them cutting it off completely, even basic ATM cards should be able to withdraw monies from abroad.0
