Why do you want more of the same? They will only look identical to the pictures already uploaded.0 -
how long have NW been rolling this out, i enquired as to whether i could get an upgraded account some time in march this year, one of the branch staff suggested i wait and i would receive a visa debit card anyway, by the end of june.
I went into my local NW and they said that its only a recent (this month) decision to give basic account holders visa debit cards which wouldnt likely to happen to me until the end of september.
i really did feel like bashing my face against the thick glass partition, as the member of staff really didnt want to know and wasnt listening to anything i said about being told by another branch about the rollout in april.
am i any more likely to be able to get a card if i call up? i know that if i simply re-order a card they will send exactly what ive got now but i have fallen out with lloyds tsb and their stupid cash point restrictions and rude customer service0 -
Hi all,
Ive got a nationwide flex with cash card - that was my first ever current account i got when i turned 18.
But i moved to A&L after they refused to upgrade me to a full visa debit back in 2007 - even though my credit history is perfect and ime on a good income (40.000 + Per year) all of which was going into this account.... Anyway computer said No.. So i switched banks and got full works etc and never gave it a second thought until now... (Ime actualy moving away drom A&L now because of santander banco migration issues - to first Direct)
I kept the Flex account as backup and i still use it to pay money into occasionaly... And Ive still got an overdraft with them.
BUT the letter they sent me about cash card plus states you cant have an overdraft with cashcard+ (Even though thats what they said i will receive anytime now)
So - i will have overdraft, chequebook etc but still only a cash card + ...?
does that sound right to you? Or is there a chance I might actualy receive a full visa debit.. (As i have OD)?
Thanks,
Troy.0 -
i find it odd they gave you an account with an overdraft and most of the benefits of a full account without the actual debit card.. but hey, banks do the strangest things lol.
When i get some credit i will be calling NW, maybe worth writing them a letter or doing the same. just to find out.0 -
Thanksfor your reply,
Ive already sent an email using there online secure message system - i should get a reply monday.
Yes it is a weird situation - My branch told me that i opened the account when rules were different?? So i can still have OD, Cheque book and all the rest of it (Even loans etc) but ime not good enough for a visa debit card...
Anyway we will see what happens.
I would have thought I would get full debit card as the cash card + does not allow accounts to go overdrawn etc..

im surprised you also received a letter, i never did, i only have recomendations from NW staff saying that all cash card customers will be changed. I hope so... and soon0

I really dont understand why nationwide were so picky about giving out debit cards...? Its such a simple feature that makes life so much easier lol
Thats why I had to move away from them - But the cashCard + is still good news - I might even scrap transfering from A&L to first direct and come back to nationwide now lol.
Its about time they gave people debit cards. even if it aint full visa debit it still does the same job :-)

I opened a NW account a few years ago before i went to work abroad - obviously for the free withdrawals abroad facility, it didn't bother me that i didn't get a debit card with it as i was living pretty much for free as everything was covered by my company so only needed spending money which i used to just withdraw in cash. A year or so after i came back i had a bit of a falling out with my main bank. I called NW to try and upgrade my account but was told they wouldn't upgrade me because i didn't use the account frequently enough - it was obvious to them that i only really used the account when abroad. They said that if i used it as my main account and could show i was using it as my main account they would upgrade me. I explained that i needed it to have a debit card in order to use it as my mian account, so it was a bit of a catch 22 situation. Needless to say i took my business elsewhere and have barely used the account in the last year or so, probably only used it once when i was in transit at an airport and didn't have any local currency for a bite to eat and a coffee. If they'd issued me with the card back then i probably would be banking with them daily now but as it is i reckon once i receive the card it'll sit in my purse for goodness knows how long before it gets used again, especially if i can't withdraw money abroad, although i suppose it'll still be handy for the bite to eat and a coffee situation in a transit airport.0

if i wasnt so paranoid that a credit search would bring all manner of scum to my door i would probably do the same, switch banks.
unfortunately, you try to make the best of what little you have and they slam the door in your face0
