And what proof do you have of that? I work in an office with people from the UK and following countries:
    South Africa
    New Zealand
    Australia
    Colombia
    Poland
    Germany
    Italy
    Ethiopia
Low paid? On benefits? Cheating the system? No, it's an engineering firm, we need the best talent.

I seem to recall a study that was done some time ago that stated that immigrants contributed more in tax than they received in benefits/sevices, due to lower use of the NHS, education and pensions - it would be useful to have a link to shut up bigots like this.

They obviously didn't wath the recent program When The Immigrant Left. People in a town ehere there were morre immigrants working than unemployed locals were given a chance to do those jobs for a week... Guess what, half didn't turn up, the rest complained that they couldn't use the machinery, so it must obviously have been set to run faster than for those nasty foreigners..it had in fact been set slower.

Avtually now I come to think of it dfh is right - in countries like the USA with very little help for people who can't work they have absolutely NO problems with immigration whatsoever

I think the USA still has immigration problems, just not as bad as the UK, which is bursting at the seams beyond capacity with an over population crises, as we still have a big problem with illegal immigration, this has more to do with the benefits situation than anything else, it certainly has nothing to do with the tropical climate here, the cost of living or the job market.

Those seeking another Country to settle in, wherever they are originally from, seem to have one destination in mind, the good old United Kingdom. They will do whatever it takes to get into this Country, by either sneaking through trucks from France, or using fake Student Visa's or Passports.

Not all immigrants are here illegally, but a very large percentage of them are, and continue to try to get in.

The fact is, there is simply no room left, the benefits system is stretched to beyond capacity for the over population, the NHS can no longer cope with the demand.

Something has to give, unfortuntely the priority must be first given to those who have already paid into the system, The borders need tightening and the benefits system needs a complete review as well as being unavailable to those here illegally, this might just stop the temptation for others to want to sneak in.

As in the US or Australia (the kind's of places I could only dream of being a resident, indeed my first port to call were I seeking residency), where at the very least the immigration system works.

Doing nothing is no longer apt, the Governments should have the courage to address this crisis without fear of being branded racist for daring to say "British citizens".

I call BS on that. Got any facts to back that up?

If you're here illegally, you can't claim benefits, since you're have no right of abode or right of work in the UK because you're not officially here.

Illegal immigration has little relevance to the official immigration system - even if we stopped all immigration, people would still try to enter illegally.
