think a lot of people have missed the old salesman trick (the trick's old...not the salesman)

TV in shop priced at £325 (competitors sell for £275ish)
    Extended warranty £75
    Both together £400
    Discount for cash payment £50
    Total Due £350

means customer gets TV at similar price to what competitors sell at
means salesman shows discount on sale BUT gets bigger profit on warranty
means customer effectively perceives ex warranty for £25 or TV at reduced price

everyone is happy....until someone trys to put a different perspective on it....the OP would be shocked if they discover the transaction was along the lines of my calculation....

"OK we'll cancel the £75 extra warranty and refund that for you, but as part of the sales deal where the customer purchased the TV AND warranty at a package price, the TV is actually £50 more"

the figures in my calculation may not be accurate....but that is sometimes how extended warranties are sold, especially in a cash sale scenario where 10% discount at least is easily obtainable, there is more profit in warranty sales than anything else in the store and it all depends on how the salesman can present the total package...
    I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:

Just a shame NONE OF IT is relevant to the Ops post, it seems some people aren't quite intelligent enough to create their own "foreign exchange debates" in their own "foreign" related forums, ergo this pointless point of pointlessness, particularly in relation to a thread about a Comet Store selling an extended policy to an OAP, has about as much "point" to it, as a wax crayon.
