Thank Crunchie its Friday! Seems to have taken an eternity to reach the weekend but its finally here and I have tons of things planned. Need to spend the morning in the civilised world purchasing many ingredients with which to create Rhubarb and Ginger jam, Elderberry and something or other jam, rosehip jam (although I'm not overly convinced on this one) and bottom of the fruitbowl jam aka kiwi thanks to a delightful pair who hepaed tons of kiwis into the trolley a couple of weeks back and then have avoided eating them to the point they're not far off the point you could stick a straw in the skin and drink kiwi juice. Also need to purchase dog food and two more extra deep sheets for the DDs beds. Will be lucky if I have any change at all out of £150 *sigh* spending cash like water again. Still long term its cheaper and more fun and tastier than shop bought jam and I really do need the sheets as one each just isn't enough.
Other plans involve investigating the free nail varnish that arrived with the postie yesterday and yet more vacuuming as the puppy seems to be teething again and is now shredding logs rather than kindling.
OH is still in agony but is making noises about spending the weekend camped out at the go-kart track with his friend. Still anythings better than him moping around reminding me how much pain hes in.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Another change of plan thanks to an eagle eyed FF. Puppy food is on offer at Pets at home which coupled with free delivery, a 10% new user discount and 5% quidco means that 2 bags have cost £43 rather than £60+ and thats one less shop to trudge around too!Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

In even better news Quidco has tracked on the pre discount amount for a whopping £3.22. Outstanding. Almost makes my purchase of x-mas themed oven gloves and mitts and an apron forgivable. Almost. Still thats a chunk of grannys x-mas pressie from the DDs sorted v. cheaply thanks to a Ponden Mills sale which saw the most expensive item reduced to £1.50 and the cheapest 90p. Purchased two more sheets for the DDs beds so can throw out the mankiest of the too small sheets, some still fit the spare beds so have to remember to keep a couple for visitors.
Spent £75 in Mr Ts on a trolley full of things to stretch the contents of the freezer for another ten days or so. Still need to put it all away in the cupboards though. Noticed many random 5 extra points offers on things ranging from 40p packs of porridge oats through to Finest tea bags. Resisted the temptation of purchasing things to aquire points because it just ain't worth it. Besides which I already have 5kg of oats in the cupboard. Perhaps a weekend of flapjack making is required.
Total spend for today is a rather ridiculous £140 or so but that does include 45 kg of dog chow which should keep them going for 6 weeks. Longer if I eventually remember to worm them.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
2.5kg of rhubarb now soaking in sugar and lemon juice overnight. Will boil and jar it tomorrow having remembered to add ginger. Think I may have got a tad carried away with the quantities as this fills a washing up bowl to the brim. Will need to borrow a catering pan from cook for the weekend. Thats exhausted the last of the rhubarb from the garden which is just as well because I'm sick of the stuff.
In other exciting news OH has a jolly to Clogland next weekend neatly coinciding with his days off so he'll be shattered and grumpy because two weeks without any time off is a killer.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Well done FF and Moo for such a great spot. I would complain to FF if it means getting a discount. I have a 10% homemovers discount card with focus and as my Moo is on Wagg it is already cheaper there than petsathome and with a discount makes it even better. I do however use petsathome for my parrot food so will have a look into this.
Hope you are still enjoying the car Moo and that puppy is not creating too much trouble with her seasonSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

If someone sent me a voucher for some wee I'd be complaining too :rotfl:0 -
Car is nothing short of awesome. I have 570 miles to go until its next fuel stop. Have jokingly told OH that I'll be putting go-go juice on my list for Santa because at the rate I drive thats around 2 months motoring unless of course OH takes it to work in which case I'll need to fill up in about a week. It has been noted that I've been driving through puddles and its shockingly dirty and could do with a wash. Meh. Was hoping he was kidding but apparently I should consider washing it. Would bribe the DDs but even with the little ladders we have they can't reach the roof. Hoping I can get away with just applying hosepipe but I fear he'll know I haven't used the wash and wax stuff hes purchased specially. Perhaps he'll take pity on the car and do it when hes bored... perhaps I'll win the lottery on Wednesday and again on Saturday without buying a ticket.
Puppy's season appeared to be over in 48 hours. Haven't had any unwanted male attention since but then haven't come into contact with many males either.
Have been awake since 5am when the geriatric hairball decided it would be nice to wander around the garden. Can't get back to sleep but can't be bothered doing anything either.
Made the mistake of keeping oH company whilst he watched the tediously dull Prince oF Persia last night. Whilst it wasn't as abysmal as the A-team its not one I'd watch again under any circumstances. At least the semi-clad eye candy almost made up for the sheer banality of the plot. Mind you he has offered to endure Sex and the City 1 and 2 in return. Not entirely sure I want to watch either though.
Not a clue whether OH is go-karting with his friend today. Turns out its not quite as straightforward as it sounde. OH friend has arranged to try an adult kart with a view to purchasing it. Whether OH is their as a second opinion or a co-owner is still a mystery, to him as much as me.
Getting a bit too excited about this jam making malarky. Think the current batch is going to stretch to 10 jars with a total outlay of £2.20 in materials plus gas to boil the stuff in the first place. Problem now is storing the stuff till I can get shut of it for Christmas. Hoping I can dump a load at my parents when I abandon the DDs there for the last weekend of half term. That and clearing half a dozen x-mas cakes out of the cupboard should help considerably. Should really buy and wrap all the other gifts for that side of the country to give them chance to wing their way to their final destinations which means coming up with a list of recipients and hoping I hae enough stuff stashed so as not to need to buy anything in the first place. Not convinced I'll be that lucky though although I do have a fair amount of stuff stashed.... if I can remember where I've hidden it all.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Whoo hooo I got a lie in. Only until 7:30 on a Sunday but its alie in none the less. Unfortunately I've woken up with a head full of snot on the verge of spontaneous combustion and a throat lined with sandpaper. Will be following my usual caffeine fix with Lemsip chasers.
Plans for the day are none existant. Its cold, wet and persistantly pouring and we're staying home for the entire day. The DDs have homework to do and DD2 picked the last of the tomatoes yesterday so shes going to make a batch of tomato chutney.
Took the DDs to a tiny local out of town shopping village on the edge of a caravan site which was full of quaint over priced shops. OH fell around laughing at the lingerie store which was clearly aimed at the average octogenarian. Items were most definately functional some even venturing so far as to be corset like or rather odd brassieres with shoulder straps two inches wide. The DDs wnet in the second hand bookshop which obviously has a captive audience. Who on earth pays £4 for a pre-owned paperback? There were a few other oddities. A v. nice craft shop full of all sorts of v. tempting papercrafting items. Was almost tempted by an iris folding pack but quickly saw the error of my ways instead venturing into the realms of the equestrian store which was heaving with people unlike every other shop. DD1 found the perfect riding whip which is now safely tucked away ready for her birthday. Decided it was easier to let her decide which one felt right rather than me trying to guess. Shes a v. happy child. Obviusly DD2 is now uber sulky because DD1 was allowed a whip whilst DD2 has been told she'll have to wait for her birthday. Apparently lifes not fair when you're 7 and 3/4. I remeber that feeling well.
Came home and supervised whilst the DDs made pizza for dinner. They had tons of fun, made lots of mess and throughly enjoyed themselves. Will be having a third attempt at removing flour from the kitchen drawer fronts and cupbards and floor and inside the drawers and cupboards later on today.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
