Thank y'all...... clebrated my "big" day by doing all the usual things.... bog cleaing, urinal scouring and mucho vacuuming. Did have a fab walk in the country park with the puppy who was allowed off the lead to play in the river and even came back (after the 20th or so call).
DD1 was priceless. Not only did she tell everyone at school it was my birthday she also told them all I was 40 (think OH may well have had something to do with this). Much confusion arose till someone was bright enough to check the personel records and twig that she was telling big fat porky pies. Could have thumped the person who told me I was wearing well for my age.
Had an evenings peace whilst OH and DD1 went to look round another high school. Before they left DD1 was convinced that this was "the on" and went she walked thorough the door Oh was just as convinced only DD1 had changed her mind and was adament that she was not going there. Aaaagh. Will be tossing a coin at this rate. OH likes it because of the metal workshops and the woodwork area and the sort of stuff he enjoyed as a kid. Shame we're not looking for a school for him. DD1 didn't like it because it was too big and sprawly unlike yesterdays school which was better laid out and didn't feel as scary despite having a similar number of students. Tis a veritable minefield.
Meanwhile OHs boss has dropped yet another clanger. Apparently his presence is not required in Clogland until the day after he flies in so he has half a day in which hes being paid to play tourist. Sometimes life is so unfair. Still I'm going to use that particular Sunday to experiment with the new bread book in the hopes of making lots of v. yummy bread with the DDs. DD2 is desperate to make mini-hedgehog rolls.
Plans for today involve much tidying and cleaning and more than a bit of ruthless chucking out. Rumour has it its free listing again on flea-bay this weekend which means they must be getting pretty desperate for custom or their server can't cope with the deluge of tat when these weekends only occur once every 8 weeks and everyone waits for them then uploads 100s of things at once.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Spent £20 yesterday on chicken feed. Apparently the wheat crop has been poor again this year so animal feed has gone up which means everything animal based or wheat based is likely to go up too. Oh joy. Will be stocking up on pasta before it tops £5 for a 3kg bag.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

There have been rumblings all summer about the price of grain going up, wonderful.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
After the longest week ever the weekend has finally arrived and with it DD2s snotty nose and sore throat.
OH has been told his trip to Clogland is a complete waste of time as the thing hes going out there to do is no longer required, at least not whilst hes out there, the day after he departs is another matter entirely. However they're still sending him out there because thats what the big wigs promised the customer. Hes packing a pile of books and movies and things to kill time becasue he can't play tourist whilst he's at the customers beck and call, although after hours is another matter entirely. Hopefully it will give him a few days to unwind.
Went out for dinner last night and had a fab time. Really didn't feel like it at the time but I'm glad we went. Was v. nice not to wake up to a pile of washing up. Food was fab apart from the starter, a whole pitta bread ... feel the generousity with three tiny pots of dip for a fiver. Boy did they see us coming. We wrongly assumed that a meze to share would be just that..... perhaps it was intended to be shared by a bunch of anorexics because it was stingy for one and a complete waste of time for four. Still nothings ever perfect and the childrens meals more than made up for it. DD1 has an enormous appetite but couldn't finish her meal because of the sheer volume of food on the plate.
Plans for today should really involve food shopping as we're starting to run out of bits and pieces but I have an in-box full of on-line offers so may well be lazy and go that route. I don't need anything else from the civilised world so its a bit pointless going really.
Started filling bags2school yesterday but am finding it a bit of a struggle this time round which hopefully means I'm making headway on this decluttering lark. Threw a few more sheets and duvet covers leaving each bed with two complete changes plus enough for all three guest beds. Will tackle wardrobes once OH and the DDs are elsewhere so that no ones around to object.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Happy Belated Birthday!!
Did you get a big preserving pan??I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Thank you!Nope I didn't get a preserving pan. In fact this years present haul was depressingly dull. One bag of mint aero balls which immediately made me think of Southpark and a box of turkish delight. Neither of which was wrapped nor indeed do I actually like. Twas sooo depressing. Still mustn't be ungrateful and all that.... the day after more than made up for the actual day when OH took me out for a romantic candlelit dinner for four and a loverly MSEr sent surprise Clarins goodies through the post. Still have to order the River Cottage book of 'shrooms which was my parents gift. You know you're getting old when you get cards but not pressies. In fact you know you're getting even older when people can't actually be arsed sending cards in the first place.
Spent yesterday doing sweet F.A. alternating between sleeping and watching the telly box. Now feel almost human which is just as well because OH has decided that I can chauffeur him to the airport to save him leaving his car there. Quite how hes intending getting home is a mystery since I'll be at work when his flight lands. Still I'll leave him to figure that one out.

Morning Moo. Can I ask some advice. OH has been clearing some of his stuff out of his parents garage and discovered that he still has some kind of super duper trolley jack that he bought when he owned the landrover but never used it. It is apparantly almost new and he is thinking of selling it. Where would you suggest is the best place to advertise it I thought of ebay but then thought that he may get more if he targeted his audience.
Sounds like you had a nice birthday dinner. It is always my experience that indian restaurants do small starters. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

You'll probably get more for it on E-bay purely because most Landie owners already have a trolley jack and a Hi-lift and a variety of other jacks. One of the many perks of owning a vehicle which is happiest when in pieces..... however I'm wondering why you're not keeping it. Surely you'll need it when you eventually purchase a Landie of your own.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored ad. nausuem. Have listed several gazillion items of tat on flea bay and still have tons of stuff to go. Even though its going suspiciously quickly its still taking forever.
Haven't managed to do anything fun yet today but I really need to shift this stuff to generate both space and cash. Its sooooo tedious. Off to list some tat on freecycle just to speed things up a bit.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
In other excitement signed up DD2 on Facebook with a brand new hotmail account and set up her own Facebook account only to be told one already existed. Clearly it didn't but thinking the PC had got confused we asked it to reset the password and then logged straight into someone elses Facebook page with access to all their friends. Eek. Moral of the story is if you have a hotmail account and fail to use it for a period of time its reallocated to someone else which is all that Facebook seem to need to hand over all your details.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
