Almost need to give a tiny amount of thought to leaving gifts from DD1 since there will need to be handed out on tuesday. Will not be giving hampers or having boquets delivered from the florist or in the case of one parent arranging for a full valet on a car to be performed whilst the teacher in question has a four course meal at a v. upmarket local restaurant.
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
OMG well ours finish today and their teacher had a recycled gift - but in my defence it was a nice scarf from M&S with tags still onand home made cards - cost to me - nowt :T

As per normal today didn't go even vaguely to plan. Had to get some keys cut for school so ventured forth into the big wide world having made a minor detour home to collect some stuf destined for the charity shop. Since I was out on official business I made the most of it. Got a funky purple door key cut for DD1 whilst at ye olde key shoppee. Then nipped into Mr A.s and topped up the food stash spending a mere £30 yet getting everything we needed and stocking up on washing up liquid and Flash... ooohhhhh saviour of the universe... also got lemons for marmalade making and cider vinegar for carrot chutney.
Should already be back at the coal face but haven't had lunch yet. Must get a move on its going to be an incredibly mad day and I still need to sort out something to change into for tonights staff bash. Not a clue what though.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Went to last nights leaving do in a smart shirt and posh trousers. Walked through the door and felt seriously underdressed. Something akin to walking into a roomful of funeral goers wearing only my birthday suit only in this case everyone else seemed to have been told it was a black tie, maximum cleavage on show kinda bash. I was one of the very few females present not wearing a ball gown. Most odd. Stuck around till 10pm but by then I'd had enough. The live band was great but incredibly loud in a very hot confined space. Attempted to dance but t'others were doing the shuffle round your handbag whilst standing in a circle thing. Most odd. Would have been perfect for doing the hokey cokey although given the state of undress it would have been more boobs in and out than any other part of the anatomy.
Got a bit of a surprise when my jams were returned to school at the end of the market. Sold 10 jars which is outstanding. Pretty sure that means I've hit the break even point, if not I'm very close. Am most chuffed especially since I sold both jars of Ruby Marmalade. Might need to revisit Lidl before their prices change again although they probably have already. Also need to get some more jars because I'm rapidly running out of those which fit the approved lids. Have lots of others but that kinda defeats the object.
Today should be a fab day for DD1. Reports came out yesterday. Hers was far better than anticipated and coincided nicely with todays surpise day of falconry, archery, clay pigeon shooting and deer management. Simply have to calm her down enough to get her ready and there for 9:30. DD2 is hoping for a day at the park but its pouring down so will have to come up with another way of ammusing her for the day.
OHs engine is due to be collected today. Has he dug out the bits that go with it from the myriad of boxes? noooooo... does that mean he'll be v. late home from work today? oh yes indeedy. Still he can't be as late as he was yesterday when he'd conveniently forgotten I had plans for the eveneing. I do sometimes wonder if he listens to a word I say.
At some stage I'm going to prep 4kg of carrots to soak ready for chutney making tomorrow, also going to start and sort DD1s old uniform in the hopes of making space for the new stuff plus its free listing on flea bay but need the rain to stop long enough to take piccies of the stuff that lurks in the garden. Hoping to get rid of 2 battery boxes, a bulkhead, a seat box, a gear box and the DDs old farm for starters. Doubt we'll get much in the way of cash for it but couldn't care less about that, just want it out of the way, besides which the longer it sits out in the garden the less its worth.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Of course he doesn't. Have you read Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps?
Me, I can read maps. I just don't like being rushed while doing so and therefore feel somewhat aggrieved when being screamed at from the other side of the street that I am "so stupid should be in a home". He didn't listen when I disagreed. (PS We got divorced.)"Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Left early. Made it to the end of the road just as the cows were moving fields. Arrived late. C'est la vie. Abandoned DD1 on an airstrip in the middle of nowhere, the only visible building for miles was a plastic portaloo. The majority of the kids milling about were boys so that won't be a pleasant experience. DD1 is planning to spend the morning conquering Europe on the Wii whilst I sit and burble in a corner. There are lots of things I could be doing and even more that I should be doing but my get up and go has already got up and gone.
The temptation is to lob everything Landrover into a single room and shut the door before tackling the remainder of the house but none of the rooms are even vaguely big enough to do this. Three more parcels arrived yesterday. I'm drowning in a sea of cardboard boxes. At least progress is being made even if I can't open the gate to the driveway because the floor is wedged up against it.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
