Its cold and dark and wet and grotty outside and I want to be curled up under the duvet with the bedroom stove burning merrily away and my nose buried in the pages of a fabulous novel. Instead I've a day of lavatory cleaning, dustbin emptying and noticeboard hanging to look forward to. Bah.

On the brightside I spent nothing yesterday. Nada, zip, zilch, zero. I must admit to cheating by sending OH to the vets to pay the excess. I'm teetering at the point where too much additional spending will send my plastic over its limit and into the realms of the very expesnsive charge per usage that this incurs. Seem to have slapped lots of big figures on it recently and am not convinced that the cheque I posted to cover the beds and expensive purchases of the previous month will have landed yet. Tis a rather expensive time of the year.

On a v. positive note it appears that the chainsaw can be repaired for around £20. Now debating whether its actually worth doing this to prolong its life or whether the thing is on its last legs anyway. OH is happily tinkering with it so will wait to see what the prognosis is.

Have lobbed more tat into the wheelie bin. Need to spend a couple of weeks in the garden to tame the wilderness that has developed. Wish the farmer would get a move on and trim the hedges cos I can't reach and I hate climbing up on ladders with the hedgeclippers. Admittedly time spent in the house would be more beneficial but will need to unplug the PC as I'm spending far too much time randomly surfing again.

DD2s recorder book arrived without the Cd. E-mailed seller who has refunded me and allowed me to keep the book too. Am v. muchly impressed. Just waiting for that and two gift vouchers to credit my Amazon account and then I can order Just Dance 2 for DD1s birthday.

Slow cooker is on. First load of laundry done but theres no hope of drying it today. Off to tackle the laundry mountain in the hopes of unearthing the armchisr this side of lunchtime.

Sidetracked again. Postie arrived with swanky new tailor made car mats which worked out half the cost of a cheap set at Halfords. Car now vacuumed and mats fitted. Still have a huge amount of laundry to put away but am lacking motivation. Still it needs to be done. Its days like this that I really really wish I had a cleaner who ironed although I'd happily settle for a cleaner. Still that would set me back £80 a month or a grand a year which is a tenth of my salary after tax and wot not.

Another day. Another 4am start. Apparently DD2 thought 4am was a great time to leap on the bed, demand tummy huggles and tell me she loves me before impersonating her father.... that is to say she trumped, rolled over and snored. Bah. Have been awake since forever.

Plans for today involve the consumption of vast quantities of coffee in the hopes of staysing awake until bedtime. Not holding out much hope though.

Had a rather odd conversation about air raid shelters yesterday. Turns out theres presumed to be one under the playground vaguely where the people with the wonga want to build. They haven't finished the last extension yet. Nor have they sorted out the niggly little things like the toilet doors that don't shut nor the handles that jam people in rooms meaning they have to climb out of the window (funny the first time... especially as the only room with this problem is the boss's office). More annoyingly its all under warranty so I'm not allowed to do a thing about it. Instead I spent the afternoon assembling a storage trolley. Boy do I know how to have a good time.

First thing this morning I have to deal with the aftermath of a cookery club which took place in the main kitchen before cook comes in and has a fit at the state its been left in. It was tidied, just not as much as cook would have done. Tis fun fun fun.

Slow cooker is burbling away to itself. I've had lots of coffee and have bumbled around not really doing much other than pointless surveys which have enabled me to claim another Amazon voucher. Hopefully they'll all arrive in time for me to order Just Dance 2. Its not released for another 2 weeks so its not going to make much difference if I have to wait that long.

Puppy food is on offer at Pets at Home but that means spending £50 on the stuff and hoping that they'll deliver whilst I'm here alternatively I can feed her the same stuff that the geriatric hairball eats for a couple of days because its not like its going to stunt her growth, she scoffs enough of it when I'm not looking anyway.

Off to vacuum the master boudoir and the hall, stairs and landing before having a very early lunch because I'm ravenous.

Amazon vouchers arrived v. swiftly. Have purchased Just Dance 2 for the bargain price of 38p. Just need to source the other few bits on her list and figure out what shes intending doing on the day. Parties in sweet shops have been threatened.

Whooooo hoooo its almost the weekend!

OH is in agony. So much agony that hes popping painkilers like sweeties, can barely walk or get in or out of the car and so was soooper mega grumpy that I fell about laughing when it was suggested that performing the horizontal tango may make him feel a bit better.

Could go on and on and on about men and their overexagerated ailments at this point but lifes simply too short. I am quite obviously the worst nurse on the planet.

Need to do some mega decluttering again as the carp is threatening to take over the house. Puppy is doing a pretty good job of reducing the spider population as she likes to catch them and take them outside to play with. Have far fewer spiderwebs than normal. Sadly I also have paw prints randomly scattered across the walls to shoulder height even though she knows that leapig up is naughty and makes mummy v. grumpy the temptation of the scurrying spider is just too much like fun. I fear a spot of wall washing may be on the cards although I have no enthusiasm whatsoever and today is puppy school day so will get to avoid the house until lunchtime which is always a bonus. This also means I need to visit a shop with cashback in order to go unless by some miracle I can find six quid lurking somewhere in the house. Must attempt to be more organised in future.

Dropped some eggs off at a friends and stayed for a cuppa and a chat. Tis nice to randomly do that once in a while and forget about everything else. Left with a huge pile of empty egg boxes, several dozen jam jars and some damson chutney to try. Feel much more positive about everything. Was late leaving school so wouldn't have made puppy school anyway. Am going to grab a cuppa and take them for a stroll in the sun instead.

Need to take the DDs to the garden centre to purchase bulbs and compost so that they can plant up some teracotta bowls for christmas gifts. Hopefully if we do it this weekend they'll be ready to flower just after christmas. Its a heck of a lot more fun doing this than sending thoughtless tins of chocolates to all the geriatric relatives and it usually ends up much cheaper too, especially if the supermarkets have value packs of snowdrops and croci (or should it be crocuses) and an array of minature tulips and daffodils. Just need to remember to be organised enough to do this. Think we may even have a couple of bowls we can clean up and use which will save having to buy new ones.
