I've had a payrise :j a whopping great 20% payrise in fact... because I'm worth it....... sadly this is only on the adhoc second job but its way better than nowt.

Spent the morning wandering round the derelict high street. Dropped two big bags of books off at the charity shop and ventured on to Mr Ts where I blew £70 on an assortment of things ranging from Easter Eggs (oh the extravagence of it) to a heck of a lot of sugary soft drinks.

Was most disappointed at the highly publicised buy 1 get 2 free offers which seem to be on smaller than normal packets at a higher than normal price so the offer isn't anywhere near as generous as it appears to be. Of course that didn't stop me buying 2kg of cheese...

Shucks to it only being on the 2nd job the payrise. There always seem to be catches with these deals somehow. Hope the cheese went down well for being cheap

Have arrived home to find DD2 has a party invite to a bucking bronco party at high noon tomorrow. How the !!!! am I supposed to magic something out of thin air with 18 hours notice? More irritatingly its at one of those way out of the way deafeningly noisy warehouse places where coffee is 3 quid a cup and it'll cost me a fiver to get DD1 through the door, its too far to even contemplate doing a dump and run and theres notihing else even in the vague vicinity.

    And breathe.

The trouser snake lurched back to life this afternoon after a period in hibernation. Tis surprising just how fast things are reverting back to the rest of the worlds version of normality. I was very late for work but arrived there with a cheesy grin on my face.

OH seems to be feeling a little happier and is considerably less argumentative meaning we can actually talk about things now. Don't think he had any idea just how worried about money I've been as a result of unpredicatable purchases of booze which could vary between a fiver and twenty quid a day. Its not really something you can budget for and working on the worst case scenario of £20 a day is a whopping £600 a month. I'm constantly saying we can't afford to do this or that or the other omitting to add because you're blowing our safety net on booze. Am still feeling like the evil stepmother in the fairy story because of this.

A 20% pay rise and interaction with the trouser snake all in one day, excellent :D:T:rotfl:

After the week you have had I think you deserve that and more!

Lets hope there is other good times ahead.

i had a similar issue with oh regarding money ... it wasnt just alcohol it was also takeaways he would have up to five a week cause it was easier and i landed up not paying things or getting deeper into debt so that he could have his take aways ... now that he is trying to deal with things and take responsibility things have changed though ... he explained that in order to build up some of his self esteem he had to take responsibililty of some things ( which i whole heartedly agree with )

he expressed concern about being put in charge of anything that could jepordize our home etc so between us we agreed that he should take control of the food budget ( which is where the alcohol came from as well) ... things have totally flipped round ... he hasnt had a takeaway since he took over he now see's that we dont have any money for them ... he did at first say that i was making it harder for him that i always seemed to find the money so i sat him down and showed him where very single penny goes and he asked " so how did we have take aways etc before " i showed him the visa bill ( which was used to pay off the over draft etc) and said there ya go alot of that £5600 is thanks to take aways and alcohol ... think about it £10 a time five times a week that's £200 a month over a few years thats what it amounts to ... the take away doesnt taste just as nice now does it ... he has had a total change with his attitude to money etc ... long may it continue

great news on the wage rise

I am a lazy moo. I have only just arisen from my pit and I could happily return there for another couple of hours slumber. Am no longer sleeping because I'm too tired to stay awake but because sleep is something that happens at night and its rather good. However a mid morning riding lesson means I need to grab a shower, turf DD1 out of bed and head off to the stables in a little under an hour.

Am contemplating whether to take party clothes and wot not with us and change in the loos at the warehouse but be 45 minutes early or leg it home after riding, get changed and turn up late. The latter means I can squeeze in a cuppa at home and throw food of some description down DD1s throat, the former means forking out for something whilst out. I guess we're gonna be rather late. Had a trawl through the depleted present stash and came up with something. Its not great but its better than having to nip to a shop to buy something and DD2 seems to think the birthday boy will like it.

Had a night filled with cuddles and random chats with OH. Things seem to be changing for the better at the mo although I gather I should expect some major and crushingly negative events in the very near future when the next stage of withdrawl kicks in.

Its now halfway through the financial month and I have considerably more money in the bank than normal. The recycling bin is almost empty whereas normally we'd fill two with empties. The fridge is full of food (mostly cheese) rather than beer, OH is eating much less and has ditched his nocturnal snacks which coupled with the lack of booze should result in some much needed weight loss. He currently has a booze belly to rival most women in the latter stages of pregnancy. Hopefully if he can shift a couple of stone simply by not drinking he'll feel much better about himself too. Am hoping that the better he feels about himself the more he'll do and the faster the weight will disappear although its going to take quite some time to lose the six or so stones that need to go especially as his idea of excercise is a walk to the village shop for another bottle or two when hes run out mid-evening.

Ran round like a loon yesterday. Took the DDs riding and aquired a new copy of the pricing scheme and the Easter Holiday events programme which between them have the potential to set me back somewhere in the region of £300. The riding school now operate a tell us what you can't make policy. Wasn't particularly tactful when I pointed out that this would be the majority of stuff since I'm not minted. Was in shock at the £500 cost of a 3 night camp where I am expected to supply the tent. I can rent a house on the beach for that which would be infinately preferable to having two over tired children.

Hotfooted it home, DD1 whipped up scrambled eggs on toast whilst DD2 got changed and I discovered a distinct lack of wrapping paper. Improvised with a two tone parcel using brown paper and what little wrapping paper we had left. Need to add that to the shopping list.

Birthday party was quite funny. They scheduled in 20 minutes for 15 party goers on the bucking bronco but DD2 managed to use up 7 of those minutes, the last five of which was spent with both arms in the air in the hopes that not being allowed to hold on to anything would make her fall off rather quickly. She did get a certificate from the management as well as her name on the wall for the longest ride since the centre opened. Fortunately they extended the session so that everyone else could have a go too.

Came home and vegged on the sofa with a novel whilst the v. tired DDs played with their farm. OH took them for a walk in the fields at dusk to locate rabbit burrows. Spent the evening watching Glee. Its rather nauseating but still more entertaining than anything else I came across.

Have had several overnight power cuts which meant my alarm didn't go off. Should be going to DD1s shooting club this morning but we're running a bit late, about two hours late, and shes still asleep.
