Yep I've used Asda and Sainsburys, the only place that has ever refused me is Tesco!

Asda has always accepted visa electron.

Hmm not strictly....when I had an account with the co-op they always refused mine (I had a "4508" card.) now the OH's electron they take without question

one of the reasons I left co-op & got an account elsewhere

If folks post the AID no on their receipts we can see straight away if the BINs have been updated.

If some people are saying their cards work maybe they have fixed the problem on newer cards. Why don't you report your card lost and see if the new one is any different.

The problem has been the AID on the card is visa electron which is why the p@pump declines it instantly. Maybe they have got round to updating this on the newer cards.

    Just a guess.

There are no new ones, they all start with 4508.

If that's the case then why are some being accepted and others not?

I'm sure it's a case of some people getting confused. I think it's more people conflicting i.e. pay at pumps getting confused from paying in the station.. yes this works in the station but not straight into the pumps. I also think that people who say they have used their cards in M&S or Tesco are commenting about using it in store when it's online that is the problem.

There's talk of this £2 being used by Tesco that's news to me but i'd be interested in the reply Tesco send to a posters email.

I myself can't buy online at M&S online, can't purchase my groceries from Tesco online to be delivered or pay at any pay at pumps. It's been like this since I got the card 10 months ago which is when the coop began to roll out the Visa Debit as apposed to electron.

Also to think about sometimes you never know what card ctagory to select, is my card a Visa or is it an electron - it's knocking bet I'll choose the wrong option and i'll be rejected to only have to put the whole lot of info in again.. it's not so annoying, there's no hard a fast rules, you have to suss out each individual companies policy's on the card and i'm so fed up of the frustration and, at times, embarrassment not to mention the inconvienience.

I'm just confused Karend 1980 says that she has bought her food shopping on-line at Tesco's using her Co-op Visa Debit card! Are we saying that she's confused and she has infact gone into Tesco's to get the shopping or are we in fact saying she's telling porkies? Is it actually true that some people can use their cards on line to buy groceries at Tesco's or is it a case of mass hysteria!!! Sorry but I'm pulling my hair out over this one. Tesco's have just e-mailed to say that they have recieved my e-mail and they will be in touch soon with the answer to my question - more waffle probably!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::eek::eek::eek::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I just tried to book the MOT online and it wouldn't go through as a Visa Debit, had to select Visa Electron.
