Co op visa card refused

Had card since Jan starts 4508 and it has been refused at M&S online, Asda pay at pump and it did get refused at Tesco but they were trying everyones a few times and it was very busy (Easter I think!) The money was there each time too!
It has worked in Primark though!
I'll not try an online tescos shop- couldn't face the time it takes being wasted!

We have just opened the CO OP accounts and the paperwork that came with the cards stated ''you may experience problems when you are using the card online if the retailer cannot do a real time credit check to see if the money is available'' or something to that effect. I know when i use tesco online they make an initial charge of £2 from my account to make sure the card is ok and refund it when they take the proper payment. This is where the problem lies (you probably all knew that anyway)

That's news to me shazbo, thank you. I don't even try Tesco because back when I used to come on here a lot it was commonly known that they wouldn't accept online, but that's a breakthrough. What is the standing with Visa debit (coop cashminder) and Tesco online for groceries to be delivered?

Hi Miche, I havent tried it with tesco online, i only found out the other day where this odd £2 was coming from I got fed up trying to figure it out and rang the bank, like i say we have only had our cards for about a week (and we plan on keeping the accounts for savings) which is why i remember what it said about them being refused in some places and we have the visa for the cashminder account so they are still expecting problems

Can't you apply for a basic Barclays account with visa debit card before you're discharged?

Yes you can but I need to have access to online banking. Barclays don't allow online banking until after discharge, that's why i'm waiting.

Are you not able to keep your coop account as well, we are running ours as 2nd accounts. Even if you dont have online banking with barclays you could still transfer money online from the coop for those things you need to be able to buy online

My card begins 4508 and I have had no problems anywhere as yet. I can use it at petrol pumps, to buy train tickets and at Tescos. I got mine about two months ago.
