When is O2 Home Phone coming?

It's swings and roundabouts on the 24/7 package. BT is £2 more and O2 includes free calls to 20 countries thus limiting the need for 18185 for many. I'm not sure why you think it's likely that 18185 won't work though. I admit it may not but I am not sure the chances are greater than evens.
Only BT are obliged to allow access to short codes like 18185 (unlike other firms now providing either LLU or WLR landline rental most of whom bar such access eg Talk Talk , SkyTalk.0 -

True. But I'm not sure why it was "likely" O2 would be the same as TalkTalk. Madasafish don't bar for example. It is something I would check before signing up though.0 -

Madasafish phone service is just BT rebundled and is owned by BT , and its not LLU/WLR which i understand O2 might be.
Lots of guessing going on, just have to wait until its new launch date.:D0 -
I've just noticed the O2 blog has been updated and they state
"Hi everyone
Thanks for all the comments. O2 Home Phone will launch very soon - it won't now be March but we are trialling it and it will be ready this spring."
The definition of spring for 2010 is
"March 20th is the beginning and it ends on June 21st"
They've gone even more vague. Think I am going for Primus + BT.0 -
Bunch of idiots. I think they've realised at the last minute it's a really REALLY bad thing. There's no money or benefit in it for a company with a mobile phone network and now Orange/TT have hooked up (with their eye-watering debt) O2 will need every penny and every ounce of their being to keep their own customers -without spending millions over years and years to make nothing from loads of cmostly crap, ignorant and penny-pinching customers nobody really wants (but BT are forced to supply to). The O2 brand is strong but I'd not buy my bananas from them.
I hope the people who thought it up don't lose their jobs though because they'll end up working at RBS or something.0 -
Apologies if I have missed this (link to O2). This shows the full package pricing for O2 Home Phone, including the inclusive international countries.
Have to admit I am quite tempted by the Anytime package. Am with BT and Primus and 18185 at the moment but for my household's use this would reduce the areas where the bills mount up, namely: long calls to to certain international countries included on the O2 list; 0845/0870 use (not by me!); and me forgetting to make the inclusive calls to BT to get free BT Privacy.
That would still leave calls to mobiles but people generally assume these are expensive so tend not to linger so long as when queueing on 0845/0870 for example.
Still, I don't think I'd want to be without Caller Display and that ain't cheap from O2 at 1.75/month.0 -
For anyone interested it seems O2 landline is up and running (at least to request transfer). Someone on HDUK claims to have requested transfer and will be transferred in the next 7-10 days. They are going to email people who registered an interest soon.
Too late for me - registered with Primus Saver Option 2 as O2 were too vague with as to when it was going to happen. Just waiting for Primus to go live now.

EDIT : Sorry about that - I must have been too trusting. Looks like a hoax post on HDUK got me0 -

Are you sure that's the correct URL? Phones Plus sounds like a dodgy company and they're in Londonderry in Northern Ireland.

Sorry. I'll crawl under a rock and keep quiet from now on.0
