    I don't understand why everyone is complaining about O2 charging extra for Caller Display. BT started charging for it about a year ago.
    Did you really mean to put loose?
    Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
    Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

    BT have always charged for Caller Display. Hiowever from a few years ago it has been possible to get Caller Display free as part of Privacy at Home provided you make 6 chargeable or inclusive calls per quarter.

    Therefore from my point of view I get Caller Display at no extra chargae and pay £11.54 pm to BT. If I were to go with O2 it would be £11.25 provided I have an O2 mobile - not enough incentive to change for me.

    Go to http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25504&s_cid=con_FURL_calls_callingfeatures

    and then click on Home Phone Security Features, and then on BT Privacy and your see its still free of charge providing you make at least 2 calls a month via BT.

    O2 also want to charge for basic voicemail which is also inclusive on BT.

    O2 calls to mobiles are dearer then BT in their 24/7 call bundle

    BT offer 200 inclusive texts in their 24/7 bundle O2 dont.

    You can use short codes like 18185 on BT its likely they want work on o2.

    I am hoping the incentives for me to move to O2 from BT are :

    * UK staff dealing with issues.
    * No autorenewal of contracts after 12 months (potential £7.50 per unused month on BT)
    * Evenings start at 6pm not 7pm.
    * Clearer billing
    * No lying by staff (which I encountered when trying to get out of my 12 month contract under their own T&Cs).

    The downside on the basic package with O2 is that it doesn't include 0845 or 0870 calls.

    It's swings and roundabouts on the 24/7 package. BT is £2 more and O2 includes free calls to 20 countries thus limiting the need for 18185 for many. I'm not sure why you think it's likely that 18185 won't work though. I admit it may not but I am not sure the chances are greater than evens.

    Hopefully it will be a UK call centre like their O2 BB call centre.. However their O2 mobile emails service is handled by overseas so who knows.

    Agreed - I would rather make the choice than have it automatically.
    * Evenings start at 6pm not 7pm.

    Unfortunately may follow BT's lead - O2 mobile already 7pm to 7am.
    * Clearer billing

    Can't say I've had an issue with BT's bill - but then £11.54pm for line rental and never any chargeable calls make it easy. ;)
    * No lying by staff (which I encountered when trying to get out of my 12 month contract under their own T&Cs).

    Not unique to BT Im afraid. I have had similar with Virgin.

    True.

    I think the point is that O2 may suit one customer and BT suits another.

    I have a funny feeling O2 will offer other incentives to take your line with them... Such as a reduction in the price of other services... or that you would now get your BB and Phone bill together instead of one to BT another to O2. Telephone lines seem to be pretty much the same cost give or take a pound or two between providers being honest it isn't as competitive as the broadband market.

    They have already nailed their offer to the mast.;)

    You can have your broadband and phone on one bill with lots of suppliers, not really a money saver.

    Customer service will be in the U.K, should be at the Glasgow offices for home phone.
