Not sure why some people are getting excited about 02 for telephone, they are not very competitive.

Caller Display is extra, 12 month contract.

You have to be joking surely?
Free UK calls, free 0845/0970, Free internaitonal calls, add broadband to the package for next to nothing.

Got to be the best deal out there right now unless I've missed something?

I know they have Indian call centre but who doesnt? From my experience many do, BT, Talk talk etc

My supplier ( IDNet ) doesn't, they don't even have Call Centres, they just have technical experts at the end of a freephone line that answers in about 3 rings.

They are not " free " they are inclusive.

Also an 02 Telephone doesn't exist, despite a suggested commencement date of March 2010.

Didn't 02 also suggest that they would have a " Fair Usage Policy "? .. whatever that may mean?

12 month contract once it does finally start.:(

Nobody knows what O2 will be like.

The startup costs will be very expensive and that money will be coming from somewhere.

As an ADSL/mobile phone O2 customer I shudder to think I'm going to lose some of the quality service I now get just because O2 home phone was dreamt up by some fat !!!! marketeer in O2 pre credit-crunch and unlimted debt.

That's business I suppose but at the end of the day O2 are more expensive for people who want caller ID and that's a sign of the rest of their pricing and services. They'll have to cut away a lot of stuff to make money and if that means employing idiots who can't understand British English then that's what they'll do. If it means breaking/bending laws and regulations then the O2 head honchos may not do that but their undermangers will be quite happy to get the figures sorted.

This service may not even come to market. Let's wait and see.

    Hi All ,

whats the point of offering home line and broadband when u would have to take a 12 months out with bt etc for a silly cost then pay o2 for another monthly cost thats just a joke i should just go with talk talk as they can activate a line why cant 02 ?

Because the majority of those wanting 02 home phone services will already have 02 broadband-so the issue of installing/activating a BT line does not exist.
It's aimed at increasing revenue from it's existing customer base, not attracting new customers. That's why they are not offering it as a standalone service.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
