As stated above if you catch 1 of 2 trains per hour that are direct from Sheffield-Birmingham (and vice versa) you can remain sat in your seat right through.

Thanks for all the help so far ...
You may have gathered by now I don't travel on trains much. :o

    I have one more question.

Where do I buy all those tickets from.

Do I ask at Telford station ?

Yes you can buy them all in 1 transaction from Telford station, just allow yourself 5 minutes extra before the train so you can buy the tickets.

As pmm1981 stated from the Telford train station, sometimes I personally find it easier to buy all my split tickets online and collect from the station ticket machine. Saves the hassle of explaining the split to the ticket seller and if it's busy, all the 'tutting' from other passengers in the queue. Just give yourself plenty of time for the machine to churn the tickets out.

Any online Train company will sell you the tickets, but avoid thetrainline.com and raileasy.com as they charge booking fees.

Eastcoast is the one I normally use, but Virgin or Transpennine are good as well.

  • Hello, I was wanting to book an East Coast train on Friday, the Advanced Fare on the website is about £16, but as I am an FCC commuter I have a stack of train delay repay vouchers at home, obviously I can't use these to pay online, but does anyone know whether this advanced fare is also available at ticket offices or whether its just a web only fare? If it is a Web Only fare do the ticket offices have 'Ticket office only' fares or will my only option be to get the full priced single which is £46? Any info would be appreciated. :)

As you don't state the journey, date, time i can only guess.
If you are using www.eastcoast.co.uk for your price, the web only price will be in purple with a * along side, this web only price is a 10% discount.
You can go along to any manned train station and buy this ticket but without the 10% discount applied, so for a ticket discounted to £16 only a £1 or so more.
If the fare is shown in blue writing then it will be the same price at the ticket office.
There aren't any ticket office only fares available either.
    Hope this makes sense.
  • Ah yes it does have the star, so I can use my vouchers and pay the extra 10% at the station...great news, thanks for your help.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out? I'm looking to book 2 adult train tickets for me and the hubby from Liverpool to London (Waterloo) preferably. Trying to travel 1st/2nd/3rd March to return same day. Hoping to leave L.pool morning time and leave London after 6pm.
I've tried qjump and the train line and getting around £150. Was just wondering if anyone knew of any discounts or cheaper fares?
    Any help is really appreciated.

Can be done on any of those dates for £10 return per person using London Midland's Great Escape.

    That's to London Euston.
To get to Waterloo it's a bus, tube or walk.

    Just to add...
You'll need to pay an extra £5 supplement per head to leave London between 15:40 and 19:00.
Valid on London Midland Trains only.
The last two LM trains for Liverpool leave Euston at 18:13 and 18:49. Change at Birmingham New Street for Liverpool.
All conditions are on that website linked to above.
