Does anyone know why the Virgin train single train prices haven't come down when travelling from Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston on Sat 4th December as i have been looking for weeks and the prices continue to be the standard single price. Is it because of Christmas Shoppers?

They are there. What prices were you expecting?

Can see Advance Singles as low as £11.00 on that day.

If you are coming back the same day, a flexible Super Off Peak Day Return with Travelcard at £32.40 seems good value.

I was looking on Southernrailway.com, but all train booking websites should show them.

Thats leaving at 3.48 in the afternoon so wouldnt leave much time in London. I am going there for a football match and have to be there by 3pm. I travel a lot normally via Chester and normaly get them £ 12 each way leaving at say 7ish coming back at 7ish. With the time you say go and return you would hardly have time to leave the station :rotfl:

I wasn't suggesting any particular time for you to travel.

You asked why hadn't cheap tickets been released. I replied.

At no time did you mention coming back. You particularly asked about Singles.

You made no mention of needing to be there by 3pm.

Your best bet appears to be that Super Off Peak Day Return with Travelcard that I mentioned.

Sorry see what you mean. I dont have a travelcard and the super off peak day return is for London Midland only which take a lot longer. i was just wondering why all the early virgin trains out and late trains back hadnt been reduced.

The UK rail system is a joke. I was in Germany not long ago and there was a ticket at weekends that 5 people could use all day for 30 euros which covered a massive region in the country.

    What do you mean?

That Super Off Peak Day Return with Travelcard ticket gets you to London and allows (virtually) unlimited tube and bus travel all day.
I think you are thinking about a railcard.

It is valid on Virgin only.

There are eight Virgin trains that day that will get you to Euston before 15:00.
There are four Virgin trains leaving Euston for Liverpool after 17:00.
That ticket is valid on all of them.

And back to your original question...
You are now less that four weeks away from your travel date.
I imagine Virgin's cheap Single tickets were released around 10 to 12 weeks before travel date.
It is highly likely that the cheapest tickets for 04 Dec sold out several weeks ago.

    No it is not.

Yes, it is valid on LM trains, but it is also valid on Virgin.

Does that super off peak day return mean you can use it on any weekend train? As not seen it come up for virgin when i search on the likes of the trainline. As that would be ideal

Using local trains only - the equivalent of Lodon Midland

I have already pointed you to one website.

    Dep Liverpool at 05:47, 07:19, 07:48, 08:48, 09:48, 10:48, 11:48 and 12:48 will all get to Euston before 3pm.

Dep Euston at 17:07, 18:07, 19:07 and 20:11 for Liverpool.

That ticket is valid on all those trains.

Oh... forget the trainline and avoid their fees.

Cheers for that. I normally book on first great western who have no fees but i cant see that fare on there but have looked at that southwestern site you mentioned and it has come up. Just one more thing is can that be booked to start from regional northern stations and not just main ones like Lime Street?
