Hi all, I'm trying to find a cheap return from Chippenham/Bath/Bristol to York on any dates during the half term (next week starting 25th Oct), so I'm pretty free. It's for my mum and she doesn't have a railcard. Cheapest I can find is £89 for a return or £64 for two singles, wondering if I'm missing something and there are any cheaper? Thanks in advance!
I'll leave you to check all the days.

    At a cursory glance...
Bristol TM to Birmingham New Street can be done each way for £16.90 using Advance Singles.
Birmingham NS to York can be done for £19.50 again each way with Advance Singles.

So total return trip could be £72.00.
Could be cheaper, but as I say, not checked all days.

    Info from East Coast Trains.

If your mum is 60 or over its worth purchasing a senior railcard for £26 , This lasts one year and will give her 1/3 of most tickets.

Thanx, defiantly a good investment for somebody 60yrs and over, but if you use discount code 'Senior10' on the online Senior railcard website you get a 10% discount so £23.40 for a year

Don't know about any codes, but where are you travelling from, how many of you are there and any preference to AM or PM?

If you give us this info, somebody on the forum will be able to help with cheap tickets, I can't at the moment, at work behind a Firewall that stops most train search engines.

That Easement is a big perk of Transpennine advance tickets from Manchester Airport and would advise against any split in your journey for the reason you have given.

Maybe if your 16-25 and plan to use the train a lot over the next year, then a 16-25 railcard may be of benefit.

it could be but i am afraid i am well over that but thanks for the laugh just about to dye the grey hairs after i book these tickets, i am aways worried about advance since once coming back from turks i had 3 hours delay in newyork and ended up playing £120 to get home from london cos i missed the train by 4 mins , porter won't let me on.

    Challenge:

Please price the cheapest fare for the following:

    One way journey:
    Peterborough-KX
    Saturday 23rd Oct. Morning travel

    2 adults
    3 children.

I have what I think is the cheapest fare, just like to see if the experts here can find it as I had the run around by the web-site and the 'phone operators.
