Bristol to Sheffield 23rd Dec. I have a famiy railcard but will making the journey to Sheffield alone, i will be collecting my son and returning the same day to bristol. What would be the best combination of tickets to get to get the best value from the railcard please?

Use East coast trains and search Bristol TM to Sheffield one way 1x adult, once you get results select 'show slower routes and tick 'via East Midlands trains and connecting services' and then update

Bristol TM to Sheffield 07:13 Advance single 1 adult £31

Do the same for Sheffield to Bristol but add 1 adult and child & FF Railcard
Sheffield to Bristol 15:42 Advance Single 1adult 1 child £29.75
Total £60.70 saving at least £13 off the adult off peak return

[STRIKE]You could try this but don't know if its allowed buy Bristol to Sheffield 1 adult and 1 child with FF railcard and as soon as you get on the train ask the train manager to excess your outward ticket as your picking up your son from Sheffield.[/STRIKE]

Wouldn't bother as the price is £62 before adding any excess so its cheaper to use the advance singles above

    Hi all,

I'm looking to book a train ticket (first time on a train in Scotland!) from North Ayrshire station to Edinburgh for Saturday.

Cheapest I can find is £17.80 by booking two separate journeys - one to Glasgow Central and then Queen Street to Waverley.

Does anyone have any valid discount codes for Scotrail that they're allowed to share?

Southern are currently offering a 15% discount on any unregulated fare that has increased over their network if purchased through their website.

Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

    Hi :)

I'm looking for a good deal for a trip from Cambridge to Sheffield , 12th March - Open Return, but can do fixed return on the 15th March if this helps the price. Leaving after 10am / off peak.

Adult, just me, so far the cheapest I've got it is £57 with Trainline.

    Can anyone help?

£57 is an Off Peak Return and is available on the day of travel... i.e. the most you should pay. By the way. the trainline will charge extra fees on top of that.

If you can commit yourself to specific trains, it can be done for £36.05 return.

    On those dates...
Dep Cambridge 12:33, arr Sheffield 15:08. Advance Single = £9.35.
Dep Sheffield 15:57, arr Cambridge 21:08. Advance Single = £26.70.
You may be able to reduce the fare for that return leg by splitting at Doncaster or Peterborough.

This info from East Coast Trains website. The above fares are only available when booking via the East Coast Trains website.

I looking for the following journey, and wondered if anyone could help me with pricing.

    Leaving - 5th April (Anytime between 9:00 - 10:39)
    Lancaster - Chester

    Returning - 9th April (Anytime between 11:00 - 14:00)
    Chester - Lancaster

The only price I have been able to find is £24.10 single, or £30.10 as a return.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Just a little bit too early for the cheapest tickets.
    Try splitting at Warrington BQ.

    The week before...
On 29 Mar Dep Lancaster 08:59, arr Warrington BQ 09:39. Advance Single = £6:50.
An Anytime Single between Warrington BQ and Chester is £7.80.

On 2 Apr Dep Warrington BQ 10:14, arr Lancaster 10:54. Advance Single = £6:50.
An Anytime Single between Chester and Warrington BQ is £7.80.

So wait another week or so to see Advance Singles for your dates then see if you can make the times fit.

Here's another option, take a bit longer than KeithP's but save you a few quid more, again taken from the week before your dates

Lancaster to Manchester Pic 09:26 Advance single £5.50
Manchester Pic to Chester Off Peak Return £13.70

Chester to Manchester Pic Off Peak Return £0 (use return part of ticket)
Manchester Pic to Lancaster 11:16 Advance single £5.50

    Total Return £24.70

again as KeithP stated the cheap advance tickets haven't been released yet, so keep checking daily.
