Norwich to Ely Off Peak Single = £13.40.
Advance Singles are available from Ely to Manchester Pic. from £13.00 on that day, although typically around £19.00.
Manchester Pic to Glossop Off Peak Single = £3.20.
So total could be £35.60.

Thanks Keith you are a money saving king0

The old site had a link to a 10% off advance fares when booking using a Virgin Credit Card special offer.
The new site does not have a link and the main Virgin Credit Card site does not mention the offer either.
But go to the link below and the offer on Advance Fares using a Virgin Credit card has gone up from 10% to just over 20%. £34 1st Advance fare for £27.45.

Kerching!! even cheaper 1st class travel. Just make sure if you will be travelling on a Virgin Super Voyager train you are booked in the proper 1st class carriage not the converted standard carriage to 1st class. Clearly demand for 1st class travel is on the up. Usually 1st class carriages are downgraded to standard class to cope with demand, not the other way round.
Just tried this for a journey to London in April....and it came out at £20 dearer than via trainline.....some discount.0 -
Staying with friends in Wigan area after Easter, but need to go to London with 3 colleagues, so travelling down from there on Friday returning back to collect the family on Sunday. 9/11 April. Virgin with discount £268 for 4, and Trainline is £248 standard class, out at 9.05 Fri, return 16.25 Sun.
I don't think I was doing anything wrong, unless the discount hadn't come off when the initial price came up.0 -

If you have a Virgin Credit Card, and the discounted fare is higher, then that is bad.
But I can confirm that Advance Singles for four people travelling on the trains you mention is £248.40. (info from Virgin Trains website).
If you buy them from any train operating company, you will avoid the trainline's fees.0 -
I have the card and input the first 6 numbers as instructed and the fare came up as £268. Yet the trainline came up as £248.0
