Anyway what I was wondering is on my return journey it will only give option of changing at Birmingham International then getting train from there to Smethwick Galton bridge to link with my Hagley train. Id much rather go via Birmingham New Street and walk to Moor Street for my train home - have had hassle at Galton station at night before and hate the place as does not feel safe.
What you could do is on the Virgin trains website, when you input you train details look/click the 'advanced journey options' then 'Extra journey requirements' then 'go via ' select 'Birmingham Snow Hill'
This will send you to Birmingham New st connecting to Snow Hill
Edit: for some reason it shows better train price/time option to go via Snow hill then to avoid Smethwick Galton bridge unless you want to go to London PaddingtonWhoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

Thanks just tried that but it says no journey available - think that is because my Birmingham Moor Street to Hagley journey goes through and stops at Galton bridge? If I put via New Street I still get the same?
Im sure on a Sat eve no one will check my tickets after the main London check but cant be sure - but if they get funny I can stand just outside First class from Brum International to Brum New St or could even buy a single ticket between the 2 stations I guess that is £1.50 with my railcard.
Seems strange I cant get the New Street option to work - it will be the same train I end up on from Moor Street to Hagley. Just want to avoid Galton after dark if possible as I find it too quiet to wait for my train there - a lot of gangs can hang round there and Im not keen on the place if Im on my own.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Try my Edited post above, it might help but for some strange reason when I try avoiding Smethwick Galton Bdg, for most of the outward trains it wanted to send me via Worcester then on to London Paddington but by going Hagley to London via Birmingham Snow hill you get better options. Hope this helps.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0

Thanks again for looking.
Tried the via Snow Hill and still get the change at International/Galton.
Think Il book it and risk it - I know the advance tickets are very strict and respect that you cant go altering your journey with the bargin tickets, but to be honest I dont think Il have much trouble staying on the train one stop to swap at New St to Moor St as neither have barriers - well New St does but they are staffed not machine ones and Im sure they will let me through - usually they are not staffed at night.
I can say Its a safer route for a single traveller at night and Its the same trains/journey in theory. I will ask once on the train at London and swap at International if I have to or ask to buy a International to New St single if needed.
Other trains go via New St - but are £24 not £18.
Id ask at my local station tomorrow but dont want to risk the tickets selling out overnight!Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Any of the rail sites will give you a better deal than that - once the cheap tickets are released. FGW are up to 28th April at the moment so it shouldn't be long.
Moral - don't try to book too early0 -

Have a look at the London Midland site - they have cheaper fares on their own (slower) trains. And have a look at Groupsave as well. Effectively half price where it's available.
As you don't give any idea of times - and whether you are coming back the same day, later or never - I'll leave you to follow up the ideas.0 -

It won't be THAT obvious from your ticket what route you have booked for - that will be on the separate reservation coupon which they probably won't ask for.
And the strictness generally only applies to the reserved seat sections of the journey - the connecting unreserved sections are not enforced quite as rigidly.
I'm pretty sure you will be OK0 -

Thank you. We need to be in stoke by 15.30 and yes leaving same day anytime after 20.00. Im not sure if groupsave is available on this\ service as when I try and enter groupsave the discount doesnt show up?
