Myself and three others are booked to go to Aberdeen from York 26th Feb returning 1st March. It cost £72 for the four of us with an East Coast promotion just before christmas.

We now may be needing an extra ticket, and the cheapest I have got is £80ish - more than it's costing for the four of us altogether. I knew we had got a good deal but I can't believe the price difference.

I am just wondering if anybody can help find any better prices, at the minute its looking cheaper to fly.

It won't be THAT obvious from your ticket what route you have booked for - that will be on the separate reservation coupon which they probably won't ask for.

And the strictness generally only applies to the reserved seat sections of the journey - the connecting unreserved sections are not enforced quite as rigidly.

I'm pretty sure you will be OK

Thank you have got my tickets now and think Il be ok - I think the reason they broke the journey down on the way back is that it theory its quicker to go via that Smethwick station but Id rather swap in Brum as safer. Its only for one stop that my ticket wont be valid so doubt on a Sat eve they will bother too much.

Am very happy with a first class return from my village to London for £36:T

You could try and split at Newcastle and Edinburgh, but the problem would be they most probably won't be able to travel with your main group :(

    Hi guys and gals.

I need to travel to Leeds next Friday, I have done a search and the cheapest fares seem to be around the £100 mark.

I am not a regular train traveller so I have no idea if that's reasonable or not !

Can anyone recommend some good deals or options, i'd rather not have to go into London first if I can help it.

    Many Thanks
  • hey.. sorry to ask again..this is travel for march 3rd from kings cross to darlington but was looking found tickets from kings cross to peterbrough

leaving at 17:30 arriving at 18:16 for £34.00

    then peterborough to darlington

leaving at 18:17 arriving at 19:52 for £11.15

would it be a safe bet to assume that this is the same train...

Well that's more than the walkon return fare, so something is wrong, particularly if you want a single as your post suggests.

An off peak return, via Manchester, is £77.30

A superoffpeak return, via London, is £91.30

And there are still advance fares available if you travel late on the Friday - I can see a £31 single on the last train of the day
