i've left it, feel bad on the tweenie bops that want them, they're expensive enough without me cashing in :A they're not selling that fast either coz I was easily able to get another set started.

Aww they're talking about kids not getting invited to birthday parties - I was that kid :( parents are evil!

Fishcake - sorry you had another bad night. Will you be able to get any naps in today?

Day - keep things bright, curtains open/lights on etc, don't worry about noise - so if you usually have the telly on, have it on, put the washer on, hoover etc, baby will get used to day to day noises. Be all chatty and happy to baby (hard when all you want to do it curl up and sleep)

Night - keep it dark- we used a touch lamp that had 3 light settings so only had it on a dim light or put on the landing light to do feeds. Try not to talk to baby, just gentle shushing, patting etc (I still do this now) Change nappy before the feeds so not to disturb her after she has got all relaxed again having her feed.

Fishcake, the main thing is to keep daytimes bright and noisy (ish) and night time dark and quiet. So at night only use a lamp not the big light and whisper don't talk to her all excitedly like you would in the day. they learn eventually but as with most things baby the first few weeks are a nightmare (which you soon forget :D)

I wouldn't change nappy before feed like NMS said though coz my boys always pooped while feeding :)

Awww Sami - that made me :(. I would have invited you to mine.

There is one girl in L's class who never gets invited to anything. I feel so sorry for her, but she is one of those really irritating kids. :o

Fishcake Hugs hunny. As everyone has said, make night time different to day time. I used to not speak to V at night feeds, just shhhhh her. And in a few months time you'll have forgotten how awful those first weeks were and will be planning the next one. :p

Looks like the railway folks are striking from 6th of April to the 10th. I'm presuming the 10th is still a strike day.

So no Edinburgh for me. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. I mean, why do people have to do this? For more money? For more what? They better just give them what they want because we ALL know, once they DO strike they will get what they want as it's going to cost the economy millions - END KARENS RANT....for now.
  • Morning lovelies.

My gorgeous hubby let me lie in till half nine this morning so I feel fab. Makes up for the fact that he didn't get me a birthday card or pressie from Henry :D.

I love all this wedding talk. Tara, I totally think you can do it in 10 weeks. My best friend is getting married on 5th June, my Mum got married on 6th June last year and the weather was amazing (on the Isle of Wight). I agree M&S are fab for cakes, Debenhams have some lovely Bridesmaids and Bridal style dresses. If you have fairly 'normal' size fingers then you shouldn't have to wait too long for rings to be re-sized.

I have a beautiful deep red wedding dress you would be welcome to borrow if you didn't want white, although it would probably be too big for you (size 14, but with room for biggish boobies in the top)!

agree with the lights at night. I changed J's pooey nappy in the dark but he was happily playing with the mobile over his changing unit
He did go straight back to sleep though!

ooooooo my friend might be joining me at next in the morning - if she does then I'll HAVE to drag my arisS out of bed before 7am!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?
  • Thanks guys, I have her mosese basket in the brightest part of the room, and I usually have viva on all day for the music. I have had a couple of hour long naps here and there so I feel pretty human. lol
I've started her memory book today so I'm chatting away to her and asking her opinions on colors and set ups lol. She doesn't seem to bothered.

    ...
The thing that really annoys me now is that it was the parents that didn't invite me not that the child didn't want me there, I had lots of friends at primary school but I also had some (VERY MILD) behaviour issues so parents would tell their kids to not play with me and wouldn't let them invite me - gets!

in case anyone is interested Ann sinnott (who wrote the book "breastfeeding older children" - the subject of that GMTV interview and dismissed survey) is doing a live webchat at 12noon today on mumsnet http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_live_events/933467-Live-webchat-with-Ann-Sinnott-author-of-Breastfeeding-Older-Children
