KOAG – here is a link to the FSA which gives guidance on formula feeding to Health Professionals. You can see for yourself that there are risks associated with making it in advance, but they are very small and are mainly associated with premature/underweight babies etc. It’s important that you make the decision for yourself.
Personally, I make 4 bottles at a time and add the milk powder then store them all in the fridge. I heat them to room temperature as I don’t like the thought of very cold milk in my baby’s tummy, but everyone has their own preferences. If you decide to formula feed, you need to assess any risks and do what suits you best.
If you want to keep breastfeeding, it will be difficult so prepare yourself for a hard slog and get as much help as you can. Not getting skin to skin probably is not causing Elliot not to feed – this could happen no matter what your circumstances were. Holly could not latch, and she was with me from birth.
It’s good that your OH is helping so much. That’s what he is there for. Just make sure that before he goes back to work, you have a go and doing everything so that you have confidence you can do things on your own too. It’s completely normal to feel so emotional so don’t worry about it and keep asking for help on here.0 -

Kindof - not much to add really, other than I know a lot of people have really benefitted from phoning the number in Krystal's signature for BF help. They can really help so definitely worth giving it a go.

KOAG Hugs hunny. We've all been there and it does get better.
I think babies having cool bottles is a good idea, I wish i'd done it. DD won't drink cold milk now as she's used to having it warm. And booby milk is only served at body temp anyway?!?
All three of mine have had bottles made up the night before and stuck in the fridge - because when the older two were babies, you were allowed too.
Could OH give you a night off from feeding? Maybe stay downstairs and do the night feeds so you can get a full nights sleep upstairs - it'll make you feel a whole lot better.:beer:0 -
Tara - My Mum has the SX pop at her house. It's soo light and easy to push compared to my SX 3D. She hasn't had any problems putting it up or down so it can' be too difficult to do :P There is a pocket ont he hood which is really handy but I don't think the basket is up to much.
Kindof - HUgs hun. Lots of good advise already posted - We pre-make bottles (In fact the reflux formula we use has to have pre-cooled water) and I don't see any problems with cooler milk - Liam is a right fussy one about the temperature of his milk. He won't touch it oncer it goes cool
Weezl - Hope you have a lovely birthday with you boys!0 -
Despair, despair, why, omg, I can't sort this out!!!!!!!
DS1 has lost all his exam work from his memory stick, months and months worth! I can't copeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeToo many children, too little time!!!0 -
Kindof - ((massive hugs))
What i've been doing for Lily is making up 3/4 bottles with the water, quickly cooling them in cold water and storing in the fridge.
When she wants her feed, i heat the water in the microwave and then add the powder and shake very well for about 12 seconds (dont know why 12 seconds, thats just a number that has stuck with me lol)
Its quick and i dont use the water if its been 24hours +, which i wont need to anyway as she only has formula at night.
Im having trouble BF'ing, but not actually with it, just more about how i feel about it. MW says i need to speak to my GP if i carry on feeling like i do.
I really hope it gets better for you, your OH is a star and Elliot is lovely!
