When we potty trained DS2 the health visitor said to wait until he was dry for longer periods of time as this would mean his bladder muscles were then strong enough to "hold on" This worked well for us, he was just three when this happened and he went straight to stand up weeing on the toilet with very few accidents. It did take longer for him to use the toilet for a poo though, he managed that last week (hurray) at 3 and 8 months, before that he would ask to wear a nappy when he needed a poo and go standing up, he seemed unable to poo sitting down until older (?) I didn't train him to do this he just did it out of the blue so he was obviously just doing it in his own time.
He still wears nappies at night.

    Afternoon all..

Hope everyone's well.. Had a quick scan through..

Happy birthday Weezl! :D (saw your question but I think it's been answered by Sami and Krystal now :)).

Had a lovely evening with MM yesterday. Muchos fun and giggles :D Her course is boring her so hopefully she's not fallen asleep in it today!

Rhys is with mum today and will be again tomorrow. I really don't feel like I'm doing very well at the minute :o Feeling constantly on edge with Rhys' wittering (which he doesn't do for anyone else - he'll witter when I'm the one holding him in a room full of people, but hand him over to anyone else and he's fine :( He's obviously bored of me!) and the state of the house so Mum's looking after him tomorrow so I can get some stuff done and have a break. I'm actually really looking forward to going back to work right now and I hate feeling like that cos I really shouldn't :( Just need a bit more of a break to get over this then I'll be fine and be able to enjoy the rest of our time off together. My first KIT day is two weeks tomorrow. And I feel very guilty for actually being able to get a break when some of you can't :o

How old was DS when you got him out of nappies? My friends son will be 8 this year with no sign that he's anywhere near ready...

Ah, tell her not to worry too much. J was 10, almost 11. And if you'd asked me the week before it clicked, i'd have said he was nowhere near ready.

When he started nursery at his school at 3 1/2 I was worried because he was still in nappies, but the school head said that most of the children were, and in his 20 odd years at the school, only two had left at 11 in nappies.

It honestly clicked overnight. He went to the toilet, took his nappy off, wee'd and pulled his trousers back up - and that was that, no accidents, dry at night too.

I'm now a firm believer that there is no point potty training until something clicks in the childs brain.

Is your friend getting her nappies from the LHA? I didn't know I could get them 'til J was around 4/5 and I was struggling to get him into size 5+. I asked at school where to get bigger ones, and they were shocked that i'd not been getting them already. (Although here, you're only entitled to three a day, max, so we still had to squeeze him into the biggest ones we could find).

A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I think she just sometimes sees no end to it... He has learning difficulties as well as the asd and it gets a bit overwhelming on mornings when he's shredded his bedtime nappy with more than just wee in IYKWIM...

She started getting free nappies as soon as he turned 3, I think our health visitor at the time was quite clued up so she got a lot of help then (not so much now )... It's 6 a day here I think? She has a pampers mountain by her back door anyway... Once Caitlyn's a bit bigger in the rear she'll be having size 6s for bed lol!

Thanks though, I'll tell her next week... She's away at the moment doing a training course for an Autism assistance dog! :D:D

Right, decision time. After a very long drive in thick fog, Silver Cross Pop or Baby Jogger Micro, votes please.

Off to catch up now, back in a mo. X
Too many children, too little time!!!

I feel a bit worried that Keira still wee's in her night time pull up and is almost 4. It's cause she drinks throughout the night though.

Anyways. Karen just cleared RSMcolls out of jelly belly beans, all packets reduced to 20p.....who wants the marshmallow flavour? I hate em :p

How cool! How did she get into that?

He sounds very similar to J when you mention him, with LD's and Autism. I remember the shredded nappies well. :( At least her HV was clued up - mine said to me when J was two when I went to ask about something, 'I don't do special needs really!'. Cheers for that! :p
