    Scruff, only found out today.

It's my neices 13th birthday. Usually she has a girly party, so we are not invited having 2 boys. But this year they are having a big party in the church hall and have arranged a lot of stuff for the younger kids (between our family and SIL family there are lots of kids). So we have to go. Would be too much for the kids to go upto Edinburgh and then come back down to a party.

Ah thats ok I'm sure once we've had one meet [STRIKE]we'll never want to meet again[/STRIKE] we'll do it again soon x :rotfl:

Present ideas for a 2yo boy, anyone? :o

Grrr.. some of you know the tales of OH's best mate's child and their approach to his upbringing. He's 2 next week and I txt his mum tonight to ask if there is anything in particular he would like or if they were saving for something bigger that they'd like cash/vouchers towards. Received the reply "not saving for anything, toys r us vouchers will be fine"... Riiiight  There isn't a Toys R Us near us (the nearest is in their home city, an hour away).

OH has already told them we're not going down there to see them and joining them at a soft play centre (it's not a party, more a "we're going, you coming too?" kinda thing). It was his decision, he didn't even tell me we'd been asked before he said no (not that I was particularly looking forward to it - their idea of childhood milestones are what swear words your toddler can say!).

After tonight's blunt msg, he's has now said we're not getting him TRU vouchers either and will get him a present we can be money saving about (I spent £13.50 on him for Christmas but at full price the gifts were worth £40). So I need ideas.. Argos have got 150 toys on 2 for £15 but I don't know what's suitable :o Have already bought him a Diego (Dora's sidekick!) tshirt and shorts set and a mug with his name on it, and his biggest present at Christmas was a travel Aquadraw thingy.

Elle, Something wooden, educational and that does not require batteries. I'm guessing it would confound the parents.

Elle - if they are as bad as you say, I would be tempted to buy the kid books or something like that. I would imagine he doesn't get much in the way of educational stimulation if his parents are so terrible. It's not exactly a fun present I suppose, but it might encourage the parents to do something right?

Just before I hit the hay..

Beenie - I'm not advising you I'm TELLING you, call the police tomorrow once DS is at school!! I'm sure you've said he's done it before (?) so he clearly isn't going to change and he needs to be punished.
I hope you are as ok as you can be under the circumstances? xx

Tara - WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!! Does DD have an electric pump, bottles etc at home ready? maybe that would calm her to know that it's not all on her shoulders once she's home? FABULOUS photo too!!xx

Glam - not much you can do for a cough really other than the making sure he's not in dry air, you can get glycerine for a tickly cough but IMO it's useless. xx

elle - have a peak at Chris's 2nd birthday photos on FB :D all I can remember is that he got a '2' number jack and a tea set (I'm guessing his delightful dad would LOVE his son to have a tea set, non? :p)

oh and I 'spoke' to feelie today, she is fine - bought another sling  but T is poorly and wants cuddles lots :) x

I think they're great, how old is nephew though? the pieces are a bit small so I wouldn't give them to a very young one/deft child that is likely to try and eat it :D

I've always avoided books because his mum is dyslexic and I didn't want it to be awkward, isywim. I know she doesn't read much herself - can read obviously, but doesn't sit down with a magazine/book etc  I'm really sorry if I've made that sound offensive to dyslexics, maybe I've done the wrong thing in avoiding books :( What kind of books do 2yo's like?

Think I got him a very simple wooden puzzle for his first birthday :)
