P!!!!s me off when he gets a Xmas Bonus for extra hours (unpaid) and exceeding savings on jobs as we loose 40% of it straight away. I always imagine the MP's on Xmas Eve raising a glass to him in thanks for their extra drink at the bar!
And the car that we have to have for his job counts as an extra 10k in income, which it flippen isn't!
DD2 started at almost 17 years old on £40 week apprenticeship. She did all her courses in half the time working on them each evening, by 20 she was on £17k as she applied for promotion after promotion!
What do you mean a car you have to have? You mean his work gives him the car and they add 10k to your income  God, you don't get nowt in life for free anymore do you!!! We should all be more like the French and just protest about everything. We shall ditch our bras, and stop shaving our pits, make some jazzy signposts and sing cumbiya (erm SP) until they ditch the VAT on gingerbread man with more than 2 chocolate drops :cool:0 -
You would think car seats would be 0%VAT seeing as they're the law?!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Company cars are rated quite correctly in my opinion, at the end of the day you're getting a car out of it and should rightly be taxed accordingly, as it is a benefit and benefits (like overtime) should be taxed.
See this: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/calcs/cars.htm or changes here: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cars/rule-changes.htm
The easiest option is to pick a cheaper car from the pool cars and let the employer pay you (the difference) from your allocation of vehicle "cost" and the cheaper model.2010 - year of the troll

Yep, he can't work without it, drives round far too much to use ours! So we pay 40% extra tax on that 10k. As we were quite new to that tax band we were a bit slow to work it all outbut this time I'm more than aware and can half that by choosing a different car.
Too many children, too little time!!!0 -

Shurrup you. It shouldn't be taxed because people on DLA like my big fat smelly step gran get a free car, free insurance, free pies, and still charge Karen £10 to take her Asda
Anyways, you might of just wanted a £500 banger but maybe you had to have a snazzy car to promote how awesome your company is. You couldn't have someone turning up in a sooped up vauxhall nova when they are trying to sell you life saving medical equipment and what not. Could you? No you'd think they were skimping on their MRI equipment and would worry your patients would end up with rat tumours coming out their eyes.0 -

Sorry for worm-can-poking - this being talkative lark has its pitfalls I see. Personally I a) pay loads of tax b) wish I earned more  !
Problem is that b = loads more of a

Tara, my Uncle does an awful lot of driving for his job and he bought his own car, had it converted to oil and uses his car allowance to run both his and my Aunt's car!
And Mfd, My Aunt has always had convertables... Currently a Saab, previously a renault (she shortened it considerably with the back of a lorry...) and always a Mazda 2 seater for when the children are in schoolA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls...
